but i mean really, there's no other reason fiona became cured of the taint. it's not because fiona has a baby--grey wardens can have babies, it's just extremely rare:
She smiled sadly down at him and shushed him quietly, rocking him in her arms. “The chances of a Grey Warden conceiving are not very large,” she said quietly. “Yet here he is. Amazing, isn’t it?”
[...] “Maybe not, then. What do . . . what happens normally when a Grey Warden has a child? It must happen, surely.”
“It does. We give the child up. I told them I already had a place in mind.”
From The Calling by David Gaider
so obviously it's common enough for wardens to have children that they have an official-unofficial proceedure to follow when someone does give birth. so fiona having a baby isn't the deciding factor, because otherwise all wardens would be women and they'd all need to get pregnant before the calling happened.
again, all evidence seems to point to it being maric who made the difference here. his line is supposed to have dragon's blood in it, which i think that combination of human and dragon blood does unique magicsl stuff. i mean, maric has one of those brooches himself when they go into the deep roads. he had some potions too, one's that i wouldn't have been surprised to learn were laced with the taint. it'd make sense--if remille wants orlais to prosper, then getting rid of the ferelden king would be an important step. but the taint never appears in maric, despite the fact that he seems to take the potions and wears the brooch. it could be argued, of course that the potions aren't laced and that the brooch needs a pre-existing bit of taint to work with in order to spread the corruption. but i feel like maric's blood has something to do with it as well.
of course, the question is now: why is alistair able to join the grey wardens if his dragon blood should technically protect him from it?
maybe it's been so diluted by this point that alistair doesn't have many of the dragon blood benefits. maybe the spell that goes along with the joining overrides the dragon blood, or the blood can't fight the taint when so directly introduced to the body. who knows? bioware certainly doesn't
