SEND ME “I MISS YOU” TO KNOW WHAT MY MUSE WILL SAY AFTER 1 YEAR, 5 YEARS, THEN TO 10 YEARS AFTER YOUR MUSE’S DEATH
My dearest friend, I can believe in a lot of ridiculous things but you being “dead” is not one of them! There are so many things I wish to say to you, so there is no possibility you are gone. I refuse to think of you as such.
Remember our time under the Ottoman? We would run amok; causing mayhem and chaos wherever we went! Oh, we gave him such horrible headaches, didn’t we? Those were the best of times…..
I was happy to have found a friend in you. And still am happy to be able to call you as such.
Nikolaos, please, stop playing this silly game of hide and seek. Come back so I can tell you all the things I so foolishly left unsaid.
The rolling of the others eyes when I insist that you are still alive is such an annoyance. Can you believe the gall they have to tell me that you are in fact dead?
But I am starting to believe that they may be right.
It’s in pure selfishness that I want you to be alive; I will admit that quite easily. But, it’s hard to see the others moving on as if your death was just another death. Perhaps that’s all that the other nations can afford; a few hurried words of “he was a good man” and other sentiments before carrying on like nothing happened.
It’s disheartening to see.
Please prove them wrong. I want to see the shock on their faces.
Well, I guess ten years is too long to beg someone not to be dead, right?
It took me this long to accept the fact that you are gone, so if you show up now I will punch you in the arm as hard as I possibly can.
Joking aside, I just wanted to say thank you for being a great friend to me during the Ottomans’ reign. It was wonderful having someone at my side through those times. Someone I trusted at least. So, thank you for that.
I hope you made death proud to take you and fought to the end. I wouldn’t expect you to go out quietly.
Goodbye, Nikolaos. It was an honor being your friend.
