Bella, Queen of the Goblins had awoken that morning with a purpose. She had been in the Underground for just under 2 months in human time, and had yet to tell anyone except for her family that she would not in fact, ever be a teacher, but had assumed a monarchy and gotten married. She’d met her husband right before she’d started college, dated him quietly her freshman year, and then gotten married shortly after it ended. She’d been ruling the kingdom for just under 6 months aboveground time, as time passed differently in the two worlds. None of her friends knew she even had a boyfriend. It wasn’t that she thought her friends wouldn’t like Jareth, but more of the fact that he wasn’t exactly the type of man they thought she’d end up with. Hell, most of her friends still assumed she was a lesbian. She thought that she’d start off very slowly, telling them one at a time that she wouldn’t be returning to school, even if they didn’t attend it themselves. “Kellyn” she thought quietly. “Kellyn is a good one to begin with.”
She got up from her husband’s throne (her throne just wasn’t as comfy as his,) and poofed herself to his study. She appeared on top of his desk, sitting comfortably. Her husband fell out of his chair, in a way that wasn’t very regal. She smiled at him, and gracefully stepped down. She hadn’t been very graceful as a human, but the longer she’d been in the Underground; Fae like qualities had begun to pop out of her. She still tripped over her own feet sometimes, but it was much less frequent. “Darling,” she said in a voice that was positively dripping with mischievousness. He glared at her. Her smile didn’t leave her face. “Good news, I have decided that it is time to tell my friends that I’m married, and I wanted your advice. You know, theoretically, I’m supposed to be headed back to college here in a couple of weeks, and I’d like for them to know before then.” Her husband stopped glaring then, for he knew that she had struggled slightly with the idea of telling her aboveground friends about her new life. He stretched out his arm, as if to suggest to his wife that she pull him back up from the floor. She gladly complied, and grabbed his hand, only to be pulled down into his lap with him. Now it was his turn to smile, and her turn to glower up at him ominously. He kissed her, and her glare melted away. As they broke apart, Jareth said “Advice on what, precious? You’ve decided to tell them, what would you like from me?” Bella gleefully began to explain her plan, with Jareth grinning more all the while. “Oh yes,” he said. “That does sound marvelous, and very like you, my little minx. If you should need me to help”, he said, “I’ll call,” She finished. As he leaned in for another kiss, she poofed away from him, up into the deepest caverns of her closet. “Selfish angel” he exclaimed
Kellyn was sitting at her computer, enjoying a little K-Pop while scrolling tumblr. Her day had been rather good. In the hot summer heat of Oklahoma, in the middle of Bumfuck, East Jesus nowhere, she hadn’t had to venture outside into the heat, but had stayed in all day, enjoying the root beer her parents always kept stocked in the fridge. Her parents had briefly gone up to Tulsa for a conference with some potential investors for a new restaurant of theirs, and they had taken her little brother with them. They wouldn’t be back for a few more hours, and Kellyn looked forward to a calm evening. Little did Kellyn know that her calm evening was about to get completely disrupted
Kellyn stood up and walked to the kitchen to grab another soda. She had just opened the door to the fridge when the light began to flicker. This struck her as extremely odd. Today hadn’t been windy at all, and the lines for all electricity where very very sturdy, because they were old and well made. She ran back to her room, and looked out the window to see trees, waving everywhere and making scratching noises on her window. The weird thing was, the only trees by her window where about 25 feet away from it, and these were most definitely right by the windows. Now she was really getting scared. “Calm down, damn it! You’re fine. You’re not going to die!” She thought to herself. She didn’t really believe what she was thinking, but she’d deal with her self conscious later. Then, all of a sudden in a large gust of wind, the window flew open, and an owl swooped into her room and flew all around! She hid her face behind her hands, for something was getting in her eyes. She assumed that it was dust. She was wrong.
As she slowly drew her gaze upwards, she beheld a truly powerful sight. A woman, one who looked slightly familiar, but who she did not fully recognize stood before her. She was 6 feet tall, standing straight up, a black cape billowing in the wind. She was wearing pants made of black leather, an intricately decorated corset, and knee high boots, also of black leather. Her hair, blond, went down well past her breasts, and her ears pointed upwards, as Kellyn knew many mythological creatures ears did. Her skin was a beautiful ivory, her features classically pretty, and her eyes a truly striking shade of green. Glitter was EVERYWHERE. She smiled at Kellyn, her canines sharper than any humans Kellyn had ever seen. It was a smile, but it was strange. Kellyn felt like she was being leered at, for it was a smile with hints of danger within it. A realization stuck her. “You’re her, aren’t you?” she asked. “You’re the Goblin Queen. You must be. You look just like him. I didn’t think you were real.” The Goblin Queen tilted her head sideways and looked at Kellyn curiously. A thought then struck Kellyn. She had let her brother watch Labyrinth a few days ago, and she’d jokingly wished him away. Her eyes grew wide. “I know I wished away my brother, but it was days ago! He’s not here. Please don’t take him.” She was terrified beyond belief, and she was sure that is showed. She was no Gryffindor, she was a Ravenclaw, right down to her core. The Goblin Queen said, “What’s said is said.” Fearful with the idea of losing her brother she stammered out “But I didn’t mean it!” The Goblin Queen continued looking at her, with her piercing green eyes. “Oh you didn’t? Kellyn broke down into tears, and began begging the Goblin Queen not to steal her brother away to the Labyrinth when she noticed something very strange. The Goblin Queen was laughing! Hysterically laughing! There were tears of joy in her eyes! “Okay, enough of this” she said, still positively howling with laughter. The wind stopped, the lights came back on, and the glitter all fell to the floor. “Jesus, Kellyn,” the woman said. “I knew you were gullible, but holy shit. That was the best thing I’ve ever done as Queen, and I’ve been at it for 6 months! God, I can’t wait to get Kenzie. I bet she pees her pants!” The woman fell onto her back on the ground, giddy with joy at the thought. Kellyn still didn’t recognize her. Kellyn stared. Finally, the strange woman pulled herself up, and walked into the kitchen, went right to the fridge, opened it, and grabbed herself a root beer. She opened it, giggling slightly and went back to Kellyn’s room. She sat down on Kellyn’s bed and looked up at. “So, where’s Mom and Roger?” Kellyn stared. “Oh right, I keep forgetting I look different. Come on, who I am? I’ll give you a clue. I’m 6 feet tall, and my name starts with a B.”
Bella was just having too much fun. If they’d all react like this, she’d be having the best couple of weeks of her life. She smiled at Kellyn again, this one genuine and heartfelt. Kellyn stared. Finally, the lightbulb popped. “Bella?” She asked, tentatively. “Ah, you’ve caught on. Lovely.” Kellyn shook slightly for a minute, before hitting Bella with every ounce of strength she possessed. “You. Piece. Of. Shit. To. Scare. Me. Like. That!” She said, a hit between every word. Bella poofed to the other side of Kellyn’s room with massive amounts of glitter flying and said, “I couldn’t resist. My husband’s ways are getting to me.” Kellyn stared, before screaming “YOU GOT MARRIED?” Bella laughed and said “Darling?” There was another poof noise, and more glitter appeared, along with the Goblin King. “Yes, precious?” He said.
Bella gestured to Kellyn, and said, this is Kellyn. Kellyn, meet my husband, Jareth.” Jareth walked over to her and shook her hand. “She’s talked about you for months and months. It’s lovely to meet you.” Kellyn was still fuming at Bella, but shook Jareth’s hand and said, “She’s never mentioned you before.” She glared at Bella. Jareth shook his head and said, “That’s my fault, I’m afraid. She was sworn to secrecy. She’s missed you quite terribly. However, we do have a gift for you, a “sorry we lied and you had to miss the wedding” present, if you will.” My Queen mentioned that you enjoy writing, and school. I’m granting you a full scholarship, with a pension, and an apartment, to go through as much school as you would like, wherever you would like. I can get you the interviews that someone like you deserves.” Bella walked up beside him, and he put his arm around her, and he kissed the top of her head. “What do you say?” Bella asked Kellyn. “Am I forgiven? Or should I throw you in the bog of eternal stench?” She asked, smiling. Kellyn merely smiled and said, “Tell me everything!” The two girls quickly sat down to catch up, and Jareth poofed away. Jareth couldn’t wait to meet the rest of her friends. This was going to be fun.
