Charge of the 16th (Queen's Own) Lancers at the Battle of Aliwal, 28th January 1846, Henry Martens

This was a decisive British victory in the First Anglo-Sikh war. Here the 16th Lancers defend the British left flank against the Sikh infantry and manage to turn them back, although with heavy casulties, losing 144 men out of 300.
