Brav had always been on Black’s side.

Until he wasn’t.

He had always believed in his trainer. He had always believed in his dream to beat the League, and had decided to stay by his side to see its realization one day. But during their journey, he had also seen his trainer growing, and, even though the human never realized it, he saw a new dream appearing within him. Not replacing the League dream, but living alongside it, waiting for its time to shine.

He had seen it via how he started to not only care about his dream, but also about the girl traveling with him. How much energy he had put to help her in her jobs, even if it did nothing to make his dream progress. How worried sick he was after they found her unconscious near the Ferris Wheel. How he decided to dedicate his future victory against the League to her.

So when Black asked him if he was okay following White in the Battle Subway, Brav did not hesitate one second. Because he wanted to see the realization of the dreams of his trainer; because he wanted to protect what was precious for him.

And he had fought with White, he had seen her progress, he had seen her needed his help less and less as the time passed, until she could fully rely on her partners. He had also witnessed her feelings becoming stronger, her dream to stay alongside Black asserting itself.

And it was when everything devolved into the worst. Something had changed in Black’s heart, his resolve was not as strong that before, and his trainer found himself falling prey for N’s words shortly after their reunion, with Musha, Musha who had always been by his side too, leaving without a word.

Brav was not one to be easily scared. He had fought battles after battle all along their journey, had faced danger after danger, but the resigned, hopeless sight of Black after he woke up? How he refused to hear any of the protests of White, of the girl he loved? It was not easy to admit, but Brav had been terrified.

But as Black’s Pokémon, partner, friend, he could not let his trainer keep spiraling into despair. He would fight, not for the League, but for the girl Black loved, for his dream to be with her that was as much important as his childhood dream, for the love he was going to give up on in his guilt and loss.

He would protect his trainer and his dreams, no matter the cost.

it will not be. gouache is the devil's paint

yeah I used to hate it too, and I still don’t like it much because it is so hard to get even, but it was SO dang expensive and I had to buy a bunch for some courses I took in college so I may as well use it. One of the things we needed it for was pattern design, so right now I’m painting an embroidery design with it, and it’s not bad at all for the smaller areas. It’s also good for opaque details on top of watercolour!
