I've asked a couple blogs this one before; dads react to a dadsona, who is amazing at stage makeup, practicing bruises and wounds one day, and the dads walk in and mistake them for real injuries

im mediocre at sfx and i remember once i send a picture of myself to my gf while wearing stage make up and she was like “ARE YOU OKAY??” and ill never forget that

he walks in all happy and chipper, maybe looking at a newspaper and talking about something. you respond, just as normal and when he finally looks up he drops the newspaper and gives this shocked gasp like “oh my- oh my goodness are you okay? what happened? why aren’t you at a hospital?” and he’s freaking out because you are bleeding and his dad instincts are kicking in and you have to quickly move and show all the makeup supplies to explain and once he realizes he just. he sits down and puts his head in his hands bc he needs a second

like joseph, when he walks in he wouldn’t rly notice it at first? he’d be humming to himself, looking at his phone when he sits next to you and finally he’d look up to see you? he jumps. this big muscular man would jump and probably yelp as he stands up and backs away like “hey you’re- thats-” and he’s stumbling over his words before rushing down the hallway to grab a towel and you’re stuck sitting there waiting for him to come back. when he finally does you just shake your head like “its,, makeup,,,” and he stops like “oh” and u both get to awkwardly stand there for a bit

hugo

when he sees it, the two of you would maintain eye contact for a good 10 seconds. and you don’t understand any of the emotions behind his eyes as he slowly pulls out his phone and you think hes going to take a picture of you but he’s about to dial 911 and you literally have to fight his phone out of his hand before you can explain what is actually happening- once he understands he still stares at you obviously shook from the whole situation but eventually hes like “it is. very impressive.”

brian

when he first sees it, he actually has to cover his mouth- the sight of blood, real or fake just makes his stomach flip and if its extreme sfx, he would most definitely have to leave and take a second before coming back in with a towel like “[dadsona], what happened? is that...?” and he’s the one who actually thinks to ask if its real. even when he finds out that its not real hes gotta step out of the room like “its very good but i cannot look at you rn ily”

craig

he’s seen a lot of gym injuries in his life, so obviously it wouldn’t make him sick to see it but he’d start worrying a ton?? but before he can leave to go get a first aid kit or smth, you tell him that its makeup and rather than just stopping like “oh ok” or sitting down all exasperated, he’d blink and be like “dude that is AWESOME??” n he’d want to watch you or even ask if you could do something on him 

damien

like brian, he... wouldn’t handle the blood well. he’d see it and have to step back because lord knows he’d probably get lightheaded. you couldn’t get a word in before hes coming back with disinfectant and bandages. you’d have to actually physically wipe it away yourself like “no- damien- im okay i promise” and you show that you really are okay by showing how the sfx works and he just stares at you before laughing nervously like “oh yes i,, knew that, yes

robert

literally as SOON as he sees you, he’s already walking to grab like a bottle or a baseball bat or something to hit someone with and he looks at you like “who the fuck-” and you have to stop him before he commits arson on someones lawn trying to figure out if they hurt you n once he knows whats up he’d pause and set his stuff down like “so. you know now that i know this, we have to use your skills in a bit, right?” as if its the most fuckin obvious thing on the planet

he’d ask what he was doing wrong. of all people, he knows that you’d go into the arms of another person if he wasn’t making you happy and he wants to know what he was doing. i think he’s be one of the only dads to even consider giving you another chance because he’s too used to ignoring things like this and pretending it never happened. (“an mutually unspoken pact to ignore the worst in each other, to continue enjoying the best”)

mat

i’ll be honest, i don’t think he’d spare a lot of words with you? he’d ask maybe how long it’s been happening, and why you didn’t just break up with him if he wasn’t satisfying you. ofc no matter what you’d say, he’d just nod and leave. he’s not going to deal with this, but it’s really obvious that he is hurting. you were what got him back into music and you made him so happy and… this happens? he’s heartbroken.

hugo

i like to imagine the dads would be pretty civil or at least as calm as they can manage when they find out or talk to you about it, but hugo is having none of it. he doesn’t say anything to you, because he knows if he opens his mouth he’s going to lose it- he’s already gone through this before, with ernest’s other dad and the fact you’re putting him through the same bullshit is infuriating

i had a bit of a hard time with him, but… i dont think he’d really process everything until hes away from you, alone with his daughter and dog again. daisy would try and comfort him but there’s things even she doesnt understand. she knows the weight of the situation, but she didn’t know her father would be sitting alone while holding back tears and sobs because he can’t show this to his family.

see, he wouldn’t have a hard processing this. however, that wouldn’t stop him from giving this exasperated laugh as he looks at you like… “really? you- you’re not pulling some sick joke?” and when you don’t respond, he puts his head in his hands and shakes it. he expected so much more out of you and the fact you stooped so low makes his image of you change into something very bad

damien

his ability to stay calm and civil during this is absolutely astounding. lucien wants him to get angry as all hell, but hes holding himself back as he talks to you. he asks why, how long its been happening… if he could’ve done something different. he’s hurt and he wishes he couldve seen this coming but he didn’t and now he’s paying for it.

robert

i don’t think he’d talk to you, or even let you know that he found out. he’d just leave. he’s not going to even give you the chance to beg for his forgiveness because you’re sure as hell not getting it and he knows as soon as he looks at you, he’s not gonna be able to keep himself from either punching you upside the head or crying. maybe even both. he hates that hes going to have to rebuild all his walls that fell because of you.

joseph

- joseph loves his children and trusts them to make good decisions but he knows first hand how bad relationships end and he’d really try to sit them down and talk to them about leaving that toxic person. he’d insist if they couldn’t bring themselves to do it, that he could talk to them personally but he knows they can’t let themselves be stuck in that relationship

mat

- mat would notice the toxic relationship almost immediately, and his entire attitude around the partner would change like... he wouldnt smile or even really talk that much to them all he’s thinking about is how he has to talk to carmensita and if she tells him that she’s been hurting he would try to keep down his anger but its obvious he doesn’t want that person around her anymore- despite that, he’d talk to her and she’d probably realize that she needs to end it

hugo

- as much as i hate to say it i don’t think hugo would know about as quickly as he’d prefer. ernest probably kept it a secret for a really long time until eventually maybe someone else says “ernest and his partner don’t really seem that... healthy” and hugo’s confused at first until he sees them and he feels so guilty for not noticing sooner- it takes him a little bit to think of a way to talk to ernest and ernest doesn’t listen at first but eventually ernest comes home one day n goes “you were right” to hugo and they have a little comfort moment

brian

- god help this person’s soul. i cannot imagine who would be okay with hurting daisy but whoever it is, is gonna get a stern talking to from brian and for once he’s actually really fuckin intimidating bc he’s so big and protective and he doesn’t want anyone hurting his little girl. daisy is probably grateful- she’s smart, she knew she’d have to leave them

craig 

- if this was with one of the twins, i think you’d have to worry both about him and either briar or hazel getting protective. still, since his kids are his first priority, he’d talk to both of them on how to recognize a toxic relationship and how to leave it since it’s best for both parties and he’d be subtly hinting at the twin who’s in the bad situation 

damien

- like hugo, he may not know as quickly as he wants but when he does find out he’d sit lucien down and talk to him gently and as understanding as he can. lucien would probably be a little thrown off but he knows his dad is just trying to be supportive and he’s not forcing anything so lucien may say he’ll talk to his partner

robert

- robert knows that val can take care of herself but that isn’t going to stop him from being blunt and honest and saying he doesn’t like her partner. she’s also older and more mature than the other kids, so she’d likely react well and talk to him about ways she plans on ending it with the person. he’d insist she takes some kind of method of self defense bc who knows how they’ll react and she’s gotta be prepared to defend herself if needed

How about the dads reaction too their s/o being scared of a movie?

The dads would act fairly similar, in my opinion. Im grouping them together for the sake of avoiding repeating myself.

Damien is canonly afraid of gore-genred films. A person headcanon of mine is that Mat is in a similar situation. However, upon seeing that dadsona is afraid, even more so than they are, they have a sense of masculinity wash over them and are secretly thankful that dadsona, even without realizing it, makes them a little bit more confident in their own flaws. They would make sure dadsona is alright, though.

Robert and Brian may not take this fear seriously, at first. They would laugh gently and pull dadsona closer to them, a gesture that goes without much saying. If dadsona is truly frightened, Brian and Robert would immediately turn off the film and change it to something else. No questions asked.

Craig and Hugo as well as Joseph would take it seriously. Maybe renting the Blair Witch Project wasnt a good idea after all. They would immediately pull you closer, making sure you were okay and asking if you wanted to turn off the movie. They wanted to make sure you were comfortable at all times.

Overall, they would be thankful for the close contact with dadsona and secretly grateful for the slight raise in confidence.

The daddys' reaction to their s/o being high or drunk?

I dont think any of the dads would be particularly bothered by it. (Other than Joseph.)

A little lengthy, so…

Robert, upon finding you drunk, would laugh and throw an arm around you, producing his own bottle of whiskey from somewhere in his jacket. He wouldn’t be very bothered. He drinks alcohol like it’s water.

Craig would worry about your health, once finding you high. Sure, you both had smoked weed together throughout college, but this was different. You were in your mid 30’s. He didn’t want you to get sick. He would lightly suggest that you do not smoke (or drink) as much, as one person to another.

Brian would be difficult to read. He gives off vibes that he only vaguely know what marijuana actually is, and how widely it is used nowadays. He would be confused. I think he would take it as a kid would in highschool. Y'know, how they lie about weed and says it kills you young. He would need some explanation, to be honest. But Brian wouldn’t really care.

Damien would know what weed is. Ernest and Lucien hang out all the time. He is farmiliarized with the ‘jazz cabbage’. Upon seeing you red eyed and majorly out of it, he would sigh, and prepare some snacks, having had experience with a high son before. Damien isn’t angry, he just wasn’t expecting it.

When Joseph came home from a church meeting to find you laying on the couch, a few empty bottle of whiskey and beer placed next to you, he would sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose. Joseph would be the only one to really be bothered by it. His poor rug. It smells like alcohol now.

Mat would want in on it immediately. He was sick of smoking oregano. He wanted the real thing, and somehow, you got your hands on it. You both would sit on his couch, blunts in hand, talking about music. He would be the most chill about it, in my opinion.

Hugo would be used to it, like Damien. However, he would harbor alot of distaste for the hobby. He would not support it, but wouldn’t tell you to flat out stop, either. He wanted to make sure you were safe. After all, you accepted his interests, he would try to accept yours.

Overall though, all of the dads would make sure you were healthy and alright mentally, once you were sober.

Dad's reactions to the dadsona being autistic- signed, an autistic who needs valadtation

i want to go into detail with every single dad but i think all of the dads would have generally the same reaction and feelings and overall it’d be supportive?

some of the dads, like craig or mat may not know a lot about it but they would try to understand it more and ask you questions to help whenever you need it! a lot of them, though, wouldn’t like... let it change how they see you? they’d know that you’re still you and it’s not a HUGE deal all the time

a few dads like brian and joseph would probably make a few mistakes here and there [let’s be honest, they all would] but they’d really just try their best to support you as well as treat you like the person you are!
