Questions
- Why didn’t Lady Smallwood & co come up with the “alternate story” to the death of Charles Augustus Magnussen in the first place? Was it really necessary to send Sherlock on that deathly mission? Did nobody learn of his guilt in the mean time?
- Why did Sherlock go to visit the Welsborough? Didn’t he solve the mystery of Charlie’s death before leaving Baker Street (he mentions the two types of vinyl there and doesn’t seem to pick up any clues on that side of the mystery while visiting the scene). Is it just an overlooked story line to make sure that he notices the Thatcher shrine?
- What about the black pearl of the Borgias? Will we ever pick up that plot thread? The police mentions that it had been traced to London but they evidently didn’t link it to the busts so when Sherlock made the connection, knowing that the busts had originated from Georgia, it should have tipped him off that this wasn’t the pearl, no? Or did he just assume that the police got it wrong? But then why jump to the conclusion that this was about the pearl?
