As Galliard brother’s shifter forms were revealed, I happen to see people asking why Ymir, Marcel and Porco’s titan forms are different.
So I began thinking.
Before that, lemme explain you the Watsonist and the Doylist ways of reading a story. Watsonians see the story through the characters’ perpective and try to explain it that way while Doylists explain it through the author’s story.
If we look at this issue through the eyes of a Watsonian, we’ll say that Ymir’s form is different because she is not related to Galliards, who has similar titan forms. That ends our whole discussion here.
But, if we look from the Doylist perpective we get two more answers.
First is that story was not finished in Isayama’s head so he designed a look for Ymir’s form and created Galliards’ forms from that.
Second is what I am betting my money on. Isayama didn’t just give Ymir a random design, you see writers have a magical super power called foreshadowing.
Seemed familiar?
I personally think it’s more likely that Isayama designed Ymir’s titan form close to devil’s to foreshadow Devil / Ymir Fritz contract and how this story begin long ago.
We enter this plot with Clash of Titans arc and it starts unravelling at Uprising.
Chapter 51.
I really wonder how Isayama is gonna tie all of these.
Or won’t he o.O
