On Set Diversions II
Allan glanced to the side, saw me and smiled: “Good evening, Dan!” He held a sundae in one and a plastic spatula in the other hand. “It has been some time, hasn’t it?”
I shook my head and laughed: “Certainly has. But some things never change, do they?”
With a smirk, he consumed another bit of ice cream: “Not skipping leg day pays off in privileges”
“I did train you well!” I patted his back. Shoulders were not that well reachable anymore. “What brings you here? A new role?”
“Not this time… I’m just… watching,” and his gaze returned to the scene in front of us.
“At a TV set?” I asked, he had a few bigger fish to fry by now, after all.
“Well, everyone starts somewhere. How is directing treating you anyway? You made that step now…” He looked down at me, curiously.
It was a strange question, I never knew how to feel about it, so I answered with a side-glance: “I certainly know now how much of a pain in the ass actors can be”
“Touché, never pretended otherwise, though” he made a welcoming gesture, smirking all the way. Hadn’t changed completely.
“Right now, it’s more fun to direct barbeques, though. How about it? You and the fam? Next weekend?” It’s been some time.
He laughed: “I’ll bring the ice cream!”
I boxed him in the shoulder: “You’ll never change”
