WIP for Tohru from Kobayashi. Rough picture of Tohru's horns. I learned this technique when I worked on Kancolle ships and primering. I just have a can of gesso and a foam brush. Many layers later, the craft foam will have a firm base for me to cleanly paint. It will also have more stability with wind. Skirt details done. There are 40 pieces of Heat Bond and some of the gold I've been using for the homemade bias tape so I know that everything matches 100%. I had to adjust the pattern just slightly. When I was putting the 1:1 scale sleeves together, it wasn't laying down properly. Heat Bond and cleanup for Merlin's pants. Now starts the grueling process of slowly embroidering fabric to fabric. Sorry for the lack of complete progress photos. I'm working on the top right now and have to fit the main jacket to the model so it fits with the reference pictures as well as stitch the collar. The top reminds me of a happi coat, but it needs some tailoring and maybe some extra panels. Anywho, pictured is the discs on Merlin's deep blue sash. They'll be treated with some sanding primer and will get more treatment and sealant. I also cut some craft foam petals for the top, but not sure what the center will be since these are supposed to also be flowers.
