she adjusts her glasses, fidgeting nervously. ten-thousand what-if questions ricochet in her mind, interspersed with worst case scenarios & self-doubt. if annette had learned to wildshape by now, she would've turned into a mouse & skittered away. but she can't, even if she'd like to. "b-b-but i -- kr - kris-sten, i-i c-can-n't, i'm ... a t-t-terr-rible d-druid, it --" she shakes her head.

the  party  was  sort  of  strange.  carrie  was  happy  to  be  included,  even  if  all  that  included  was  standing  near  a  wall  and  observing  her  classmates  consume  a  lot  (  like  maybe  too  much  ?  )  of  the  bad  baby  milk  that  had  been  provided.  when  fabian  walked  past  carrie  found  herself  trying  to  reach  to  stop  him,  thank  him  even.  but  when  he  was  finally  looking  at  her,  she  found  that  she  was  at  a  loss  for  words.  carrie blinked. she sort of expected him to keep walking but he stopped. "  uh  -  thank  you  for  the  invite.  "  she  said,  attempting  to  keep  her  voice  audible  in  the  loud  environment.  "  you  always  say  how  much  of  a  big  deal  your  dad  is  -  makes  sense  why  you're  such  a  good  adventurer.  "

eoldy  was  profoundly  different.  now  that  the  times  of  shadow  had  subsided  she  found  herself  thinking  about  the  world  of  possibilities  that  awaited  her.  she  had  been  a  war  torn  woman  for  so  long  know  that  she  wasn't  sure  who  she  would  become  when  peace  was  an  option.  she  was  excited  by  the  prospect  though.  curious  to  have  the  time  and  nature  of  discovery.

she  turned  toward  her  former  partner.  he  looked  the  most  himself  that  he  had  in  years.  sure  there  was  some  residual  slime  and  a  general  sense  of  toad-ness,  but  it  was  familiar.  "  that  was  brave  -  you  didn't  even  break  out  the  fencing  guide.  "  she  teased.  elody  sits  down  with  enough  space  that  he  could  join  her  if  he  wanted.  "  does  the  world  seem  quieter  now  ?  "

amma'd like to wonder how someone as clever and resourceful as the major came to be in service to the goblin court, but she's also in service to the goblin court just now, so perhaps that itch is better left unscratched.

the money helps, of course, it always does. but amma's been in the business long enough to know what gold can or cannot buy. some people have a limit. some limits are lower than others. amma does not have limits; she has standards.

the cart they've taken shelter under doesn't stop the rain enough. the burglar sits with her legs outstretched and her back against the body of it, still in her armor, water plip-plip-plip-plip-ing along her dark hood. she would have thought a druid could do something about that. in her mind, she tallies that as another mark against keyleth: either she cannot manage a simple vine canopy to keep them dry, or she does not care enough for amma's comfort to do so.

"i have tried being good, you know. it doesn't pay as much, and i'm just rotten at it, anyway. figure i should stick with what i know."

kermit tilted his head. his jaw moves hesitantly to chew the bubblegum he had been given. the wooden puppet seemed to be confident about the mixture but it made him uneasy. a wild night to kermit was an extra cup of coco by the fire. it felt almost disrespectful not to try it though. he could feel the sweat begin to form at the nape of his neck. “ i'm not so sure about this. ” the brown liquid seemed to smell even stronger in this moment. he striaghtened himself up before raising the glass in the air. “ to bubbglegum and whiskey ! ”

❛  That's not how—  ❜ The can is being shoved into her hand before the statement is even finished: already cracked open for sake of convivence, it's like he's done this a million times. She's almost hesitant to try it, there's too many questions left unanswered, all in the realm of who, where, and why. She's been told their navigator has to calculate their FTL jumps by hand, and suddenly she's been handed a ' soda ' which will improve mental processing time? That bit was unclear. But precious time is already being wasted as the cyborg is grabbing his guns; she has to follow through. To say she is stunned is frankly an understatement, lips puckering, eyes squinting, she questions how anyone drinks the whole can; but something is definitely moving faster now. ❛  Holy fuck, what do they put in those things?  ❜ @alldimension
