Dear reader, As it happens, I'm listening to a roundtable discussion originally broadcast in the U.S in the mid-1960s, using the website YouTube. Let's not begin to discuss the astonishing achievement symbolised in the very form of what I'm doing, that the the ever-developing and almost total summation of all human knowledge is at my fingertips, as mobile as I am in London. This roundtable is debating race relations of that time, meanwhile and I am 50 years on. I am a black British man, with Ghanaian parents, a child of the specific cultural diaspora resultant of British imperialism, capitalism, Christianity, socialism, and more isms and influences than would be prudent for me to name. The descriptions of the power structures that are used to dominate people have barely changed. Inequality is still a barnacle on all aspects of life. This is will probably be carried on.
