Kočner is in jail, Fico is on a roll. What happened to the people connected to the Kuciak case?
It's been 5 years since a Slovak investigative journalist and his fiancée got murdered by a mafioso connected to the highest places in our government. Followed by a purge of many powerful names, people have shown in protests that they can't go on like this anymore. However, after these 5 years, it feels like we're back in the same spot, once again about to try and hopefully save the fragile Slovak democracy in the next elections where one of those who were in power when this heinous murder happened is once again leading the charts (the 3rd most trusted politician is Robert Fico today)
Please, let's take this as a lesson of what happens when we hazard with democracy, when those who provide us with important information, one of the pillars of democracy, are left unprotected or even actively antagonised in a country with a heavily flawed political system.
