mirabel is the future matriarch: why I think it’s implied she leads the encanto in the future

So in the fandom I’ve seen a lot of people talking about the theory mirabel becomes matriarch and leader of the encanto in the future. I believe this theory and actually have evidence to support my claims.

The first argument i see a lot is “candle holder”. to debunk this one well there is no candle this has been confirmed by jared and we see the candle go out in the movie. The magic doesn’t have a source anymore it seems, it’s just a part of them. so to put it simply there is no candle holder because there is no candle.

The second point i see a lot is it “erases mirabels arc”. To me this makes no sense as mirabels arc is one of acknowledging herself and learning she has a place in the family magic or NO magic. Becoming matriarch doesn’t make her special as she still has no magic NO powers. It’s simply a role in her family and community. Based on her own want song “waiting on a miracle” we see she wants to bring about change and help “Show this family something new” not only this but we see mirabels leadership skills manifest throughout the movie. We see how she supports everyone and how open minded she becomes. She sees things from a different perspective and she’s willing to learn. More than any other madrigal shes not afraid of change in fact she embraces it and helps her family do the same.

The biggest example of her leadership skills is “all of you” firstly mirabel is the person who starts the song. looking around we see everyone else have no idea what to do but mirabel does, “look at this home we need a new foundation” “it may seem hopeless but we’ll get by just fine”. First thing that’s shown here is mirabel stepping up and taking charge. We also see how she reassures her family THEYRE going to be ok despite the dire circumstances. To me this screams leadership, we see mirabel offering support and reassurance whilst simultaneously inspiring her family and later the townspeople too.

continuing all of you when the townspeople come to help its not Alma in the front, it’s Mirabel. Mirabel who is leading, mirabel who is inspiring Mirabel who is in charge and knows exactly what is needed to fix this broken family and broken house. We also see how despite Alma being matriarch she lets Mirabel take the reigns here, she puts her trust in mirabel.

throughout all of you we consistently see mirabel being the one to help out and she even brings Bruno out of his shell! She plays a very active role in the rebuild and I’m fully of the belief this is intentional.

mirabels first line in the current timeline of the movie is “make your family proud” she’s always had that goal. She’s always wanted to belong to have a place. By the end of the movie she comes to realise shes enough as she is but even isabela acknowledges what makes her stand out

mirabel brings change to the encanto and to me it feels like such a natural progression of her arc that a couple years in the future she chooses to step into that role. Key words “a couple years” they aren’t gonna put a teenager in charge but it’s implied when she’s older she would be good in such a role. We see throughout how she listens to others and empathizes with them offers her support and genuinely cares about her home and community.

So I believe the movie implies this is mirabels future role that she chooses based on her goals in the film. this doesn’t make her special or erase any of her or any other madrigals trauma, mirabel is an ambitious person and all she ever wants to do is help out! It’s just a role, a place for her to belong which in the end is all shes ever wanted.

Theory: The reason Mirabel didn’t get a gift is because she is Julieta’s child.

Abuela places more responsibility on Julieta’s side of the family. Julieta is the responsible triplet whose gift helps give the Madrigals a good standing in the town. Julieta’s children are given much more responsibility than Pepa’s. Luisa’s gift is easily adaptable to helping the town with physical work, and Isabela upholds the Madrigals’ good reputation. Compared to Pepa’s side of the family, Julieta and her children fit much better into Abuela’s view of what the Madrigals should be like. Mirabel not receiving a gift is an extra harsh blow to Abuela because she shatters that image expectation.

Anyone else thought it was super interesting how casita didn’t actually start breaking until Mirabel was distraught after years of build-up of her emotions. And how every time it got worse, it was because Mirabel was feeling some awful negative emotion. Mirabel’s gift was her connection to the house, I think. I think she has so much more power over la casita than anyone else in the family, and that’s proven when she sets the doorknob and it all comes alive. She wasn’t ruining the magic, the casita was just reacting to her the same way the weather reacts to Pépa.

Ignore my rambling but did anyone else notice how in the song 'The Family Madrigal' Mirabel say's "MY DAD married Julieta." and I know it's probably sleep deprevation but what if Mirabel was the child of an affair that her father had so she doesn't actually have a biological connection to the magic because Julieta is the one with the magical? heritage.

They are so in sync! I feel like this represents how everyone is familiar with one another to the point that they know exactly what to do at any point and time, especially when setting up dinner!

But then we can see Mira, not part of any of this and off to the side where no one even acknowledges her. This may show that she is not in the sync with everyone else, even though they're supposed to be this large family unit.

Mira looks down at her bag here, which may mean that she is thinking about how Bruno's vision could be her in into her family's 'sync', so that she can finally be acknowledged and seen for once in her life. To finally have done something of value. Honestly, I feel really bad for Mira in this short scene, mainly because she's left out because she has no gift yet her father and Tio Felix are both in the family sync.

But then Dolores just places a mug/bowl on the table, just a bit out of sync of everyone else. If you look at the other gifs, she's a little out of sync there too. Also, I looked at the dinner scene and what she placed down isn't there, so I like to think she placed it there just to show that she isn't as in sync with everyone else!
