Ok so I saw the TV glow is super trippy with one of the reasons being it was filmed at my high school but then has iconography from my childhood that did not happen at my high school being put there and the whole thing feels like a fever dream

like the rainbow tent from my childhood in the show being in my actul high schools gym (and it was the trans flag instead of rainbow??? hello????)

and the blow up dome with stars in the climax. I haven't seen one of those since I was a kid... in the school system... in the gym where it was filmed

something something about my own queer experience at this school being represented in this movie and my weird little friends and I obsessing over obscure tv shows and taking them to seriously

Just saw I saw the TV Glow and gotta say, watching such a queer film about queer nerds obsess over obscure queer shows that they are way too connected to tkaing place in my actual high school's cafeteria is really fucking me up

Watching the Percy Jackson show as an adult who started reading the series when they were 12 is such a crazy experience. The show is doing such a good job at bringing what we loved about the series to screen and you can tell it was made with so much love and care. Below are just a few thoughts I had while watching the first 4 episodes.

Love the casting and having everyone played by actors who are actually the age the characters are! They are doing such a fantastic job and really capture the energy of everyone.

Walker as Percy is such good casting! He has all of Percy’s sass and heart.

Also can so see the Ryan Reynolds influence. Like watching him on screen is like watching mini Ryan Reynolds’s - which also gives Percy energy.

I know they are played by actors the age of the character but oh my gosh Annabeth is so little!! Like she’s gone through so much and I just want to wrap her in a hug and give her the unconditional love she deserves! (But I know she would stab me if I did that and rightfully so). But AAAHHH - just every time she on screen I’m just like it’s a baby ☺️

The bully that Percy “pushed” into the fountain is exactly how I pictured Clarisse when reading the books.

Speaking of Clarisse, love her portrayal and I can't wait for that redemption arc!

I love how David Jenkins has said that all of Izzy’s characterization has come solely from Con O’Neill. Like that man saw a smol angry man and said “it’s because he’s in love with Blackbeard and this is repressed homosexual rage” and I appreciate that

Is it bad that I don’t want Izzy to have a character arc? Like I want him to stay angry and unhinged but also make it have no affect the other characters. They keep him on the ship and every once in a while he flies off the handle and everyone is just like oh Izzy’s at it again. And then Ed stares at him for like a quarter of a second and that fills him with enough validation to quietly stew in the corner for another few weeks.
