One thing people donāt clock, is that Sally and Percy are such a rare and great example of a healthy āmamaās boyā stereotype. Like, yes, heād choose his mom over everyone, but he also knows when he canāt or doesnāt need to. He knows when he needs to pick another option or trust that his mom will, in fact, be okay without him. And same goes for Sally. Firstly, sheās raising her kid to be a good person. Period. She doesnāt have any expectations from him, she just wants him to be happy and understand the importance of being kind. Secondly, she knows that there are certain parts of Percyās life that she just canāt be a part of, no matter how much she wants. And she knows to step aside and trust that Percy can handle himself in moments where sheās not there.
