Reader’s POV
I cried for what seemed hours but was only a few minutes when Liam was back in my arms. Scott had put his hand on my back and Stiles was looking at us with a small frown on his lips. Liam wasn’t letting go of me and I didn't let go of him. “Where’s my son.” I could hear Mary’s voice from outside of the door and Liam started crying as his grip got tighter around me.
“Ma’am you’re not allowed in there.” I heard Jordan speak and before we knew it she opened the door and Scott went to stand in front of me and Liam.
“It’s okay honey, I'm not going to let her take you again.” I whispered in his ear rubbing my hand up and down his back.
“That’s my son, I want him back.” Stiles’ dad stood up and stood in front of her preventing her from walking any further.
“You’re not getting him back.” He spoke and I was glad to know someone like him when we needed him.
“And why the hell not, he’s mine, they have no right.” Mary spoke and moved around him.
“Mommy.” Liam’s voice spoke and I sighed closing my eyes.
“Because you beat him, that’s why.” As soon as the words left his mouth I pried Liam off and looked at his face noticing the bruises and cuts on his face and looking down at his arms noticing the same.
“Oh my god.” I covered my mouth as the tears began again and I stood up from the chair I had been sitting on and handed Liam to Scott before walking up to Mary.
“Mommy.” Liam’s cries were the only thing I could hear and Stiles’ hands on my arm was the only thing I could feel.
“You hit him?” I growled out.
“(Y/N), let it go.” Stiles spoke and I shook my head biting my lip.
“That’s none of your business, I'm his mother I can do whatever the hell I want to him.” As soon as the words left her mouth I slapped her cheek and I could hear the gasps all around the room. “You bitch.” She spoke as she tried to push me put Stiles’ dad put a hand in between us.
“I suggest you leave before I put you in a cell.” He spoke and she looked at me before she stomped out the room and the adrenaline in me lifted breaking me into nothing but sobs and tears. I walked over to Liam seeing his small face filled with bruises and scratches made my stomach turn and all I could do was wipe the small tears out of his face.
“It hurts mommy.” He sniffled out and it broke my heart all over again. Scott looked at me with a disapproving look on his face and I knew he hated watching me with any altercation with anyone but something had to be done. Liam’s arms swung towards me and I gladly took him into my arms as he set his head on my shoulder and I kissed his head.
“Can we take him home?” I wiped my tears and I looked at Stiles’ dad who sighed.
“Yeah, just call me if she tries anything, I'll set up a court date to get you guys full custody and you won’t be have to worry about her anymore.” I smiled at him and gave him a quick hug before he ruffled Liam’s hair.
“Thank you, so much.” I spoke and he nodded. Scott grabbed my hand and led me outside with Liam in my arms.

When we got home Lydia and Malia were the first ones to run over to us and see if Liam was fine. They didn’t like the fact that he had bruises on his face and Malia even threatened to kill Mary but Scott quickly shut her down before Liam could hear. He had fallen asleep in my arms but I didn’t want to lay him down just yet. “You were out of line back there.” Scott spoke when we were left alone and I sighed as I looked down at Liam’s bruised face.
“Don’t talk to me like I'm a child. Look what she did to Liam, look.” I hissed out and he sighed closing his eyes.
“I know, but that doesn’t mean you can go and hit her in the sheriff’s office. How would you feel if you had gotten arrested? Liam wouldn’t have been with you.” He sighed. “I’m just trying to look out for you, both of you.” I sighed and kissed his lips.
“I know, I'm sorry I shouldn’t have done it but I did and it felt great.” I bit my lip and Scott chuckled lightly.
“Let’s get him to bed.” He looked down at Liam and I nodded as I stood up and walked to Liam’s room. I set him down on his bed and sighed when I saw the rest of the bruises on his small back. I gave him a small kiss on the cheek before covering his small body with the cover and walking out the room with Scott.
“I thought we’d lost him forever.” I bit my lip when I sat back down on the couch. I didn’t want to cry anymore but I couldn’t help it.
“I know baby.” Scott took me into his arms and almost instantly my tears poured out.
“He’s all bruised up Scott, he’ll never heal from this.” Scott sighed and wiped the tears from my eyes.
“I know baby, I know.” He repeated and kissed my forehead. “But we can make him feel all the love we can give him and that’s what will get him through this.” He smiled at me and I couldn’t help but smile back as he continued to wipe my tears. I didn’t know how long me and Scott had been sleeping but we were abruptly awoken when Liam’s screams could be heard traveling through the house.
“Mommy! Mommy!” His loud screams had me running towards his room while I stumbled on a bunch of his toys. I ran into his room and he was trashing in his bed and I immediately took him into my arms.
“Liam!” I shook him lightly and his tiny eyes opened just before he wrapped his arms around me. “Hey, it’s okay honey, it’s okay.” I rub small circles on his back as he sobs uncontrollably on my shoulder. “You’re okay.” I sigh and bring him to the living room sitting on the couch with Scott who was rubbing his eyes. “You wanna go with daddy?” I ask him and he nods and Scott takes him into his arms.
“What’s wrong bud?” Scott hugs him as he snuggles his head into his shoulder.
“Mommy wasn’t there.” He sniffled and his fist grabbed Scott’s shirt.
“I’m right here baby, it was just a bad dream.” I smiled at him and he rubbed his eyes yawning before grabbing my fingers with his small hand.
________
That night Liam woke up five times, three which were in our bed. I didn’t mind, I would do anything to make him feel safe once more and if he wanted me to comfort him in the middle of the night while he slept then so be it. A week had passed and it had only gotten worse, he didn’t want to be away from either Scott or me. He’d be stuck to our side. When I would cook he’d be clinging onto my leg and when Scott had gone out to get the paperwork for his adoption he had me call him every five minutes. The bruises on his body had slowly started to fade but the pain was still there. He was scared every time one of us raised our tone and he was scared every time he heard something drop. Today we had agreed that we were going to do something to make him happy once more and what better way to make him happy than to take him to the park. Granted I didn’t want to go anywhere in fear of bumping into Mary but we couldn’t hide in fear, that’s not what we do. “Are you ready for the park?” I asked Liam as he sat in his carseat holding his small lion in his hands.
“Yes mommy.” He gave me a smile, a smile that took over three days to resurface. I smiled at him and patted his foot as Scott drove to the park, Scott had been supportive and Liam had been really attached to him. It was amazing to see Liam finally give into Scott and Scott was loving it. He loved being the one to comfort him when I couldn’t.
“We’re here.” Scott spoke as he parked the car. I got off getting Liam out of his carseat and putting him down so he could walk. His small hands wrapped around both mine and Scott’s before we walked down to the playground.
“Go on honey, we’ll be right here.” I smile at him and he shakes his head as we all sit at the bench.
“I’ll go with you, come on.” Scott took Liam’s hand and guided him to the small sand box. “See it’s not so bad.” Scott smiled as he handed Liam a small bucket. Liam started to put sand in the bucket and he smiled at Scott as he started to help him. Soon more kids started to play in the sand box and Liam stuck to Scott’s side.
“Hi.” I heard one of them squeal before they waved at Liam. “What’s your name?” The kid smiled and Liam looked at Scott leaning into him but Scott chuckled and patted his back.
“It’s okay, don’t be scared.” Scott nodded and Liam looked at the kid strangely.
“Liam.” He said quietly and the kid smiled.
“I’m Timmy.” The kid smiled and placed his hand on the bucket Liam was working with. “Can I help?” Liam looked back at Scott who nodded before Liam nodded as well. Scott had a chance to escape and when he did he came to sit next to me. We watched as Liam played shyly with the small kid occasionally looking at us to see if we were still there. I sighed and leaned my head on Scott’s shoulder as I enjoyed Liam being normal for once.
