Valentine’s Day, it’s a fun day full of cute things, letters, and typically happy stuff (and possibly asking someone to be your valentine, which is what Jean plans to ask Kevin)
Jean walks around the campus courtyard waiting for riko to come pick him and Kevin up for dinner, the only problem was that Kevin hadn’t appeared yet. School ended an hour ago and he still wasn’t there. Since there’s still a good twenty minutes before riko arrives Jean decides to go looking for Kevin, walking the campus and the halls of the school, he ends up in the library, the one wing of the school without cameras, so a lot of couples go there to enact horny teenage things. As he searches the rows of shelves he hears hushed words and laughter, slowly he goes in search of the people, he goes to the second floor of the library to see in there’s anyone there; there’s not. He looks over the railing to look onto the first floor and sees Kevin with a girl. Allison. She would never go after someone who’s taken, right? Right? Jean stares at them silently, trying not to read into it. But then Kevin leans down and kisses Allison, she slides a folded paper into his hand, then just walks away. Jean backs away from the railing, telling himself he didn’t just see that, hoping it wasn’t real.
After a while of trying to calm himself down he makes his way back to the courtyard where riko and Kevin are standing waiting for him. “Took you long enough” riko remarks, eyeing him. “Sorry. Can you just drop me at home please? I don’t feel well. You two go to dinner without me” Jean responds tiredly. “Are you sick or something?” Kevin asks. “Or something” Jean replies
Sitting in his room alone in the house Jean keeps remembering what he saw in the library. Kevin, his Kevin had voluntarily kissed Allison. How could he? How could he do that after everything? Everything that had happened over the past few months had him thinking they were a thing, but apparently Kevin didn’t think so.
The next morning Kevin comes barging into jeans room “Jean wake up riko left breakfast for us” Kevin says excitedly “it’s pancakes and fruit salad”. “Go away Kevin” Jean says as he rolls away from Kevin. “Don’t be like that, you like fruit salad”. Jean doesn’t reply to him. “Are you okay? Did something happen?” Kevin asks apprehensively. “ I don’t know, did something happen? Maybe in the library with Allison?” Jean asks coldly. “Allison? Jean, why is that important?” Kevin says. “Because you should have said no when she asked you to be her valentine! You shouldn’t have kissed her!” Jean says, almost yelling. “Jean, we’re not together, I can kiss whoever I want” Kevin replies calmly. “You said you loved me, Kevin. What else do you need for this to be real?” “I don’t know, okay!? I wasn’t expecting you to be this serious about it.” “Get out. Please. I can’t do this right now.” Jean says, trying not to cry.
The next day he finds Allison to talk to her about the things that happened. “He didn’t say anything about you, I’m so sorry Jean, I would never have asked him if I knew” Allison tells him honestly. “I know you wouldn’t, that’s why I’m telling you this” Jean replies.
