ok ok hit us with some of your headcanon's about han's childhood. painful or happy.
his father was never around. not that he even remembers his family. but it was just his mother and his sister. they both died, in the clones wars… some type of ‘in the wrong place at the wrong time’ type of situation, and he just. ran. he took off running as fast as his little legs could take him, and he survived for nearly a year on his own.
he used to watch the swoop races, in corellia, when he was a kid. admiring all of the pilots from a hill overlooking the arena, too far to make out details or even know who was winning, but he was only impressed by how they could fly. just immersed in how much he wanted to be a pilot, how much he wanted to grow up and be just like those kids.
pickpocketing was something he had to do, to survive. though he never like doing it. knowing that something of value he was lifting from someone, might have been important to them. might have held some other sort of value, to them, from someone they cared about. it made him feel guilty, it made him regret, but he had to live.
trader’s luck had this rule. if you didn’t make the amount of credits or bring back the value amount (through pickpocketing, like jewelry, etc) you didn’t eat for the day. han had been doing it since he was a kid. he always met the target garris shrike had given him to accomplish. but the younger kids sometimes didn’t. so han would go through the line to get his dinner like normal, and take it over to the one of the younger kids who didn’t. he’d gotten in trouble for this a lot. being scolded turned to being hit, but he didn’t care, as long as the kid got to eat.
