It was an awesome episode. This season is awesome. I'm sure my room mates thinks I'm crazy from all the loud squealing I did during the episode. But there is one thing that annoyed me. Or rather, one thing that annoyed the feminist in me.
Doctor Who is generally awesome with portraying female characters, and I they rarely resort to stupid cliche situation. Ok, that might be wrong. But I never really cared.
Maybe it's because of the recent flow of abuse that is being reported on blogs and nerd thing altogether. BUT THE WHOLE I'M BEEING A CHAUVINISTIC SEXIST PIG TO A POWERFUL WOMAN, AND THEN SAID POWERFUL WOMAN FALLS FOR SAID CHAUVINISTIC SEXIST PIG IS NOT AN OK THING. IT IS NOT IN REAL LIFE AND IT DOESN'T BELONG IN DOCTOR WHO. The only thing that made that part of the episode ok was Amy Pond. Because she is a badass who won't take that sort of shit. And neither should the audience.
Once again I reiterate that the episode was awesome, one of my favorites for sure. Not perfect, for obvious reason, but I still got tears in my eyes over the Doctor and Amy's interaction at the end. AND BRIAN POND!! OMG, it was awesome.
I just don't understand why Queen Nefertiti went out with that pig. I didn't enjoy his character one moment. It doesn't even make sense for the Doctor to bring A HUNTER with him on an adventure. Hunters kills thing for a living, the Doctor try to keep (most of them, anyway) alive.
And that's my review/rant for the night. Now wondering if I should re-watch the episode when it reruns at 11.
