what sort of scenes can you remember? also, do you remember how many were on the bus? it might be Five Were Missing by Lois Duncan

OK so this is the gross bit 

I remember there was a scene where an adult woman peed out of fear. They were in the school bus for ages, the children and teacher (I assume teacher? why else would an adult woman be there?) being held hostage and I think maybe the people who were holding them hostage, maybe someone started to form a bond with the teacher?

also I think there was a death?

For some reason Cabeswater being dreamed up by Ronan upset me way more than Glendower not existing in book 4 (neither of those were the things that upset me most about book 4, but), I guess because my passion for sentient landscapes is pretty sincere and I liked Ronan’s ability a lot better when it was sort of, a mystery existing alongside the central mysteries of the story, rather than being THE engine of what’s magical and numinous in the plot... especially since we never did find out that much about it. How it works, kind of, where it comes from, no. Either that or I’ve blocked out the explanations >_>

I googled barak and gashir because I don't know anymore!! what are their names!! I don't who they areeee. and I found that the first three posts were my unfortunate typos. and the last was "but last night pip and i were idly joking about a ds9 crossover and while utena/anthy has like NOTHING IN COMMON with barak/gashir" so I did ultimately copy you. down the path of rechristening them barak and gashir

let me tell you something I did. I read "i am glad i waited until 1am to write this. i’m not making fun of you for ‘barak/gashir’ because that is what the ship is filed under in my heart." and I spent like five minutes looking for that anthy/utena post so I could prove that you were the one who wrote bashir/garak with a slash and that I just copied you. and I only realized just now that what you were actually making fun of was my typo. once again.

how did your barak/gashir opinion change?

asldkgajlsdkg OH GOD. okay it’s not so much that my garak/bashir opinion changed as that the transformation that i was talking about—garak goes from cynically viewing bashir as a bargaining chip to treating him as a sorta scary friend!—happens in like……. four episodes, so it’s not… it’s not what one would call the defining movement of the relationship

whereas with utena and anthy it is an AGONIZING WHOLE-SHOW ENDEAVOR and also anthy’s trust issues are much more complicated and more complicatedly… like, not subjective, actively justified, linked to our understanding of the world within rgu; er, i don’t know what i’m trying to say here, but anthy learning to trust IS the revolution and it kind of rewrites reality accordingly, right

but garak has his intellectual beliefs about stuff and his lasting hindbrain reaxx, and neither of those set the terms of his relationship with bashir in the long term, a ton of other external factors do that. so… blah blah blah. it’s a whole thing. at this point i’m mostly interested in the external factors, because in many ways garak is quite static, or at least it’s a 1-2 jump from potential to awkward realization, with him.
