Repost @newyorkbullycrew Alma • We mentioned yesterday that Alma's condition is very serious, and her doctor felt that if she did not have a blood transfusion, she would die. We wanted to let everyone know that Alma received her emergency blood transfusion, and her hemoglobin level has been raised from a 2 to a 5. A healthy level is 13-15, so Alma still has a ways to go. Alma is still very weak and is unable to stand without assistance. She has also tested positive for the tickborne illness, Anaplasmosis. Because Alma can't stand or get around on her own, she has started to wear diapers. Luckily, the antidiarrheal medication Alma was prescribed seems to be helping, and the diarrhea has subsided a bit. Because of Alma's severe malnutrition, she is eating four small meals a day to help her gain weight and regain her strength. Alma is a fighter and has been trying to eat on her own. Her caregivers are monitoring her 24 hours a day and assisting Alma with everything that she does. Alma's list of medications is extensive and includes Genurin for bladder health, Omeprazole for stomach acid relief, Doxepin for pain relief, Enrofloxacin antibiotic, a sleep aid, antidiarrheal medication, and Ensure protein drinks.
