This illustration by artist #AlMargen is a perfect way to kick off this years Spring Break. Who as a parent stops and really thinks about the pressures our kids feel with constant activity, amusement, lessons, school, and extra circular activities? The pressure to be the best, first, number 1 and A = smart. There is odd, societal counter pressure to have your kids signed up to as many things as possible, sports, clubs, lessons and to make sure they are occupied for Spring Break, and at all other times with an endless rush between locations of their activities. This makes us a better parent right? Maybe to some it does but for me it couldnât be further from my truth. I have chosen to stay home this Spring Break. I feel it important and enriching to let my kids have moments of bring âboredâ and gain the ability to be creative, problem solve and occupy themselves. I want my kids to sleep in, have jammie days and a real break. We will seriously limit electronics, get outside and into our garden, we will create things, spend time together without iPad or TV, read, play board games, watch the waves, have picnics, rest. A real break. âïžEnjoy your break, whatever that means to you and your family. âïž #SpringBreak #Parenting #Thoughts #ARealBreak #BreakTime #Pressure #Children #Childhood #Art
