Vernon’s eyes flicker to her, as if acknowledging her presence for the first time. “And I see you’ve met Miss Evans.”
“Yes, I have.” Lord Potter's eyes find hers and she believes she identifies a sparkle of mirth in them. “We’ve had a pleasant conversation. I believe we have a few things in common.”
Lily fights a laugh that threatens to escape as Vernon gestures for Lord Potter to accompany him back to the house. “Excellent. We’ve much to discuss, it seems. I can send for some brandy while we work out the specifics of the arrangement.”
“Tea would be lovely,” Lord Potter acquiesces, turning to face Lily. “Until next time, Miss Evans,” he smiles, giving her a small, courteous bow before his attention drifts to somewhere behind her. “And thank you for your hospitality, Mrs. Dursley.”
