Aloha Tower. 1926, Honolulu, Hawaii. Originally a lighthouse, but now, sadly, just kind of 'there'. There have been attempts to build shopping destinations around it, nothing has worked, so far. This tower's style has been called everything from Hawaiian Gothic to Art Deco Neo-Gothic. Photo taken 02/28/2020.

Aloha Tower

1926. Inactive as a navigational aid since the late 1960s, although the top of the tower is floodlit at night. 184 ft (56 m) square masonry tower topped by a domed cupola.Chance has a good photo, Mike Nash has a photo, Wikimedia has a photo of the tower at night, and Google has a street view and a satellite view. Originally a brilliant navigation light was displayed from the top of the tower. Although it was maintained privately, the tower was an important beacon for ships arriving in Honolulu. Located at Aloha Tower Drive and Fort Street adjacent to the cruise ship terminal in downtown Honolulu. Site and tower open; the 10th floor observation level is open 9:30 am to 5 pm daily. Hey everyone! Emily headed home today... I miss her so much already. But we had a lot of fun while she was here! Yesterday we took the elevator up to the top of Aloha Tower and looked around. You can see so much from up there! It's so beautiful! For the rest of the day we went out to Ala Moana so Emily could do her souvenir shopping. I also got my Halloween costume! Well, part of it anyway. I'm going to DIY the rest of it. But I'm going to be the riddler this year! It should be fun 😄 Speaking of Halloween, we also went to the Haunted Plantation that evening. It was out a bit on westside, but we were able to take a bus down there no problem. Once we got there though, we realized we forgot cash to buy the tickets... So we ended up walking a bit to miraculously find a very sketchy ATM in a very sketchy little shop in town. There were other people there in our same situation, so it wasn't too bad. Once we got back to the plantation though, the line was about 2 hrs long, so we ended up paying 5 extra bucks for a fastpass, which was awesome! We waited about a couple minutes to get in, and we were at the very front of the group, which was even more terrifying. The plantation was awesome!! I didn't scream, but I was definitely spooked. Especially when a guy chased us around with a chainsaw, that was terrifying. Getting back was a bit of a challenge though, since not all of the buses were running and it was kind of late. The one bus that did come ended up blowing right by us, so we ended up just ubering it. Which was awesome! We got home in the same amount of time it would have taken to transfer to the other bus that would have gotten us home. It was still kinda late once we got back though, and I just kinda fell asleep, which is why I didn't post anything yesterday 😅 Today was just a pretty relaxed day. Took my sister out for brunch at this crepe place. Then we just watch goofy videos together until we had to catch the bus to the airport. That bus ended up being over 40 minutes late, so we ended up ubering it to the airport as well. After I said bye to my sister I've just been kinda chilling at my dorm for the rest of the day. One thing that has come up is that I'm going to be switching rooms. One of my friends has been having a lot of trouble with two of her roommates, so they wanted to switch rooms and asked if me and Madi (my roommate) wanted to move in. We got all the paperwork mostly filled out, so we just have to get it approved then we can start moving. I actually get along pretty well with my other roommates right now, but it's 12:30 am here and they are currently blasting music, so switching rooms might actually be kind of nice. Anyway, I'm going to try and get some sleep... Goodnight!
