Is he still a hand talker after having lost a couple fingers or is he more reserved after Mount Massive?
It mostly depends on who he’s talking to, how comfortable he is with the person/situation, and how much time has elapsed since the asylum. He tends to be more aware of his hands when he’s putting more thought into appearances – i.e. when he’s trying to impress someone or he just wants to avoid awkward conversations. In those instances, Miles is likely to have his hands hidden under a table or in his pockets, or just leave them stationary on his lap, on a surface, etc. Even then it’s not so much about not freaking people out as it is the fact that he is very self-conscious of the missing fingers (they’re an obvious oddity and something he still has a lot of hangups about). But when he’s at ease around a person or speaking emotionally, he tends to be more animated and lapse back into speaking with gestures.
For a period after Mount Massive (the first six months or so), he had a very hard time coming to terms with his injuries, so he was very prone to keeping his hands in his pockets as much as he could. As time goes on, though, he adapts and gets used to it, to the point where a couple years down the line it’s easy to act like nothing ever changed. Sometimes he gets a harsh reminder of reality when he goes for a gesture that doesn’t really work anymore – he’s right handed so he still defers to pointing with his absent index finger, for example – but he’s getting better at just shrugging it off.
