Now I do admit though, from a non-shipper’s perspective, it’s pretty weird coming across a ship between an eldritch robot that is the root cause of everything bad that’s ever happened in the show and a human that fell victim to her and is currently having her (half dead) corpse flaunted around the galaxy. A pretty unceremonious death… 😭

i used to hate this ship btw, and found it so icky because well… Cyn is literally wearing Tessa’s body. And i excused my unbridled hatred to whoever shipped it as “its an unhealthy ship!! Me no likey, ew.” but after Forever’s release and a fic that dropped wayy earlier before, i was absolutely hooked onto it
call me delusional atp with how ill keep drawing nothing but these two and make up scenarios about them interacting pre-manor massacre, or even make up little aus for the sake of some fluff and more angst, but the ship is SO deliciously toxic I can't bear to steer clear from it.
So you could say its the opposite of Jessa
less of the yearning and loss…
and more of that OBSESSION and CONTROL !
Cyn is bold, so she knows how to get what she wants at the right time.
And Tessa is just too fascinated by what exactly Cyn is to walk away out of disinterest from her. So the love is mutual!
One is fascinated by her biology, and the other is curious about how she functions as an eldritch robot. Since we figured Tessa has already found out about Cyn’s solver powers at some point during a nightly repair and she opens up her chassis expecting some wires and a metal core... only to be met with a bunch of meaty parts.
her thought process is just “oh. that’s not supposed to be there… neat-o! How does that happen?”
And finds Cyn’s ability to function anyways to be interesting rather than horrifying cus' let’s be honest, the gal desecrates graves for fun, places skulls of people in her room and plucks out their hair to style it for her drones. She's a weirdo who definitely thrives on 4chan LMAO
Their relationship is a mixed bag of mutual fascination, envy, jealousy and possession. The obsession is one-sided as Cyn seems to be pretty fixated on mimicking Tessa’s characteristics. I figured she uses mimicking as a way to socialize since she saw how humans mimic off of eachother (repeating meme trends to eachother, dressing up as their favorite characters from a series together) as a social bond.
Tessa once notices Cyn’s sudden change of hairstyle and questions her about who did her hairstyle exactly and Cyn just casually says “oh, it’s you. You did it. Do you not remember?”
And it still mind boggles Tessa to this day because she cannot for the life of her ever remember doing Cyn’s hair to look like hers (she was gaslit into believing she did Cyn’s hair and thought that she simply forgot, i.e using Tessa’s forgetful mind as a weapon against her. How devious!)
So like in simple terms, its just evil toxic yuri, but underneath all that cynical-ness, i’d figure Cyn absolutely loves Tessa and wanted to keep her to herself, since she hasn’t liked a human that much ever since her hateful spree on humans. And Tessa goes along with it considering she has never connected with another human, as much as she feels bad for what Cyn had done to her parents. she still feels guilty for everyone else!
Cyn considers Tessa in a different category than your average human, like her little “i hate ALL humans... No no Tessa, you stay. You’re cool. You’re rocking with me.” category. She’s the only exception lol
Your art has 100% made me even more obsessed with Tessa x cyn, considering I liked both characters anyway I was curious about the ship for a while but now I’m obsessed- I’m also glad I wasn’t the only one that got the tescyn vibes from the forever music video !! Love that thing so much

Oh yeah! I suppose they didn’t want to add that last part for personal reasons but i presumed it just led nowhere and ended on a rather grim note, still understandable as the current ending is much lighter
not sure if this'll get answered but I feel like a twitter dm would be weirder but anyways, what is your interpretation on tessa and cyns dynamic once they're fused? I see people saying tessa would be dormant or in a 3rd person purgatory after being assimilated but that's boring. In a eldritch royals ship I feel like they'd make each other worse in a fun way

Okay but to add on to TessCyn being the most fucked up toxic yuri... What if Tessa agreed to the assimilation? Either because Cyn gasslit her into thinking it's a good idea, or Tessa just couldn't help her own curiosity.
I can imagine after everything her parents put her through along with the drones she calls her family, Cyn would just be like "I know a way to get back at them, protect the others, be together forever, and solve your curiosity about my biology at the same time." And Tessa would just be like, "... Go on." And in the end she has no regrets! Cyn's manipulation wins!
And they lived horrifically ever after.
YES omg <3 i do love some manipulation in the mix knowing Cyn had to twist some strings to get in Tessa’s brain and see what motivates her, even as much as Tessa doesn’t enjoy knowing everything will be gone upon her agreement.
she is still a human with her own worldly wants and needs, and i feel like i don’t wanna brush over that as much as she avoids social interaction, had morbid interests and relied on robots for having someone to talk to .
It’s macabre being told that everything you have ever loved will disappear, yet being promised a better existence. And i think she’d be already reaching rock bottom before handing her life over, eventually relying on Cyn entirely to take the wheel
