Alpha 101: Military Patches
Two basic styles of military patches exist: unit and shoulder. The first type detail personnel information regarding which corp the individual belongs. These unit patches may also contain numbers or symbols that relate to particular missions. As for shoulder patches, these display rank and status of the individual. During World War II, around the birth of Alpha Industries, military patches came to prominence when the military expanded and had need for new forms of imagery and representation. Patch research, design, and creation were heralded jobs within the U.S. Army Quartermasters Corps.
