You weren’t even sure how you became a target for such horrid people. The Thalmor dressed in their elven armour and high robes, using the empire to ruin whatever they can in Skyrim. You were simply heading to the village to gather some produce and other items needed at the farm when you heard chanting and your world went black. When you had awoken the cell stank of death, it was cold and your body was chained up by your hands. When you opened your eyes you realised you were naked, small cuts over your body in random places maybe from cutting your clothes off. You had sobbed for ages before you went numb and your mouth went dry. Sometimes a guard would come in throw some bread into the cell, sometimes you couldn’t reach it and would starve more, watching the rats get to it instead. Time was irrelevant down here, you don’t know how many days it’d been or weeks, who knows, once the Thalmor got involved nobody would find you.
You awoke with a startle as you heard shouting and cursing, you looked up seeing them being in someone new. A man in nothing but underwear, snarling and cursing, thrashing against the hold of four men. The man stopped a Thalmor mage behind the group holding his hand up, magic emitting from it. The man was knocked out and carried to a cage where he was cuffed to the wall, left to dangle like yourself. You hung your head again as the guards went by your cell and laughed. One walked in and you kept your head down before fingers forced your chin up. The mage elf spat in your face muttering something in a language unknown before shoving your head and walking off. The guards laughed behind him locking your gate again and leaving. You kept your tears back wishing you could wipe the spit off your face.
The stranger eventually woke up, struggling against the holds before realising it was no use. So this is how you’d die, in some cell gods know where with a stranger.
“Hey” you frowned looking up and over to the man. You didn’t answer him just put your head down.
“Be quiet” you said praying no Thalmor were around.
“They’re gone” he added but you didn’t answer.
“My names Kaidan” he said.
“I don’t care” you muttered, but he heard.
“Do you know how long you’ve been down here?” He asked and you ignored him.
“Alright” he said softly.
The man, Kaidan, tried to make conversation, you ignored him afraid something might happen. Guards would come in, throw your pieces of bread or unglove their hands and touch your body, laughing at it. You felt humiliated every time they did, the man in the other cell yelling at them to stop only to get himself beat up. Kaidan threatened them every time they came in, threatened to chop their hands and heads off before feeding them to the skeever. You could feel yourself slipping everyday the Thalmor noticed and barely kept you alive by forcing food and water down your throat. Sometimes you’d catch wiff of a scent unknown to you, smelt like home and sweet rolls, mixed with the wilderness and alpha. You didn’t know if it was an elf or the man in the cell. You didn’t catch it very often due to the smell of death, rotting food and your own body fluids. You heard the familiar sound of the door squeaking open and closing heavily. You cursed another Thalmor here to humiliate you. There were already guards here and a Thalmor mage who was torturing Kaidan. You hated the sounds they made and closed your eyes trying to block them out. It stopped once Kaidan passed out and the mage left on the other side of the cells. You heard a whistle of an arrow shoot by and hit the guard in the chair. He fell to the ground and you froze looking to the door. Someone walked out, a warrior by the looks of it a bone bow in their hands, arrows on their back and a sword on their hip. They walked to where they just striked grabbing something off the bench and rushing to your cell. You panicked smelling alpha as well.
“I’m not here to hurt you” they said a kind smile on their face.
“I’m here to free you” they added going to your cuffs and unlocking them. They took off their cloak and wrapped it around your shoulders. You had fallen to the floor, knees aching at the hit.
“Here, I have a healing potion” they said handing you a small red vile. You took and sipped it, your wounds healing fully and the hunger going away.
“There’s someone else” you pointed to the cell across from you and they nodded.
“Wait here a moment” they said leaving.
“Who are you? I’ll kill everyone of you bastards once I’m free” Kaidan fought.
“I’m here to help” the stranger said unlocking him. He also fell to the ground, but caught himself, the stranger handed him a potion and he sighed standing up and drinking it. You shuddered pulling the cloak over you.
“There’s one more bastard up that way, I’d help but I don’t have my gear, I’ll tend to the girl” he said and the stranger nodded readying their bow and going up the way Kaidan pointed.
Kaidan approached and you finally got to see him clearer, he was strong and tall, long dark hair and dark eyes. His scent hit you and you finally knew where that nice scent was coming from. He faltered a bit nose flaring as he took in your scent before shaking his head slightly. You heard distant yelling from fighting before it stopped.
“Just wait here a moment I’ll be back” Kaidan said grabbing the dead guards mace and going after the stranger. You struggled to your legs glancing to the way out. You needed to thank the stranger though. You headed where they went and went up the stairs to see the dead mage that tortured Kaidan. Kaidan was bent over a chest pulling out a sword a smile on his face.
“Are you alright?” The stranger asked turning to you and helping you to sit down.
“I am now” you nodded smiling slightly.
“Who are you?” You asked and they smiled.
“I am Dragonborn” they said and you almost didn’t believe him if you hadn’t heard the rumours. Exact armour and gear along with the markings they had.
“Why save us? How did you know?” You asked.
“Your father is worried sick he’d sent out papers over the town I was passing through, I picked it up, I knew the Thalmor had been taking people, they’ve got multiple places like this over Skyrim” they explained.
“Gods” you whispered.
“The inn keeper saw Kaidan here get grabbed but didn’t want to say anything in fear of getting taken too” they added.
“Glad you found us” Kaidan spoke up and the Dragonborn smiled.
“Of course” they said.
“I’m in your debt Dragonborn, should you need someone to join your travels” Kaidan said shrugging on a plain black shirt and pants. You frowned slightly feeling something tugging in your mind at his words. The dragonborn frowned slightly also at you before smiling.
“It’s alright, you deserve a warm meal and rest, should I need you, I’ll find you” the Dragonborn nodded.
“I cannot repay in that way I’m not a skilled warrior I work at a farm, should you need shelter though and food please don’t hesitate to stop by” you spoke up and they smiled.
“Should fate cross our paths again I’ll stop by for a fresh meal” they nodded. You watched Kaidan gather his armour on and sheath his sword. You hadn’t been able to focus properly with his scent in such a small room. You wondered what the tug was also, why was he so special?
