Our amazing tour guide rushed us back to Oberammergau after the visit to Linderhof Palace, so that the "Virginia gang" as she called us, could make it to the alpine coaster before close. On the outskirts of Oberammergau, there's a small ski area, and during the summer you can ride the chair lift up and down the mountain... or you can ride the chair lift up and then ride down on a single-car toboggan style rollercoaster. You can also hike up to the rollercoaster if you have a couple spare hours. You can see the trail in a couple of these photos from the chairlift... I would love to make it back one day and do the hike! The photos make it seem like a quick little lift up, but the ride was probably 10 minutes, and Lexi and I were screaming the entire time about how beautiful and amazing everything below us was.
