When it rains...
It floods the street, but CalTrans can’t be bothered to shut it down.
It wasn’t until we hit the 8″ deep puddle that spanned Gaffey Street just south of 5-Points that we realized we were screwed. The car shut off and all we could do was watch the water swirl and rise around us for 20 minutes. It was about 2′ deep when the firemen came to rescue us. They saw I had a cane and were a bit worried because the water was actually moving in a rapid (not obscenely rapid) manner.
We’d just paid the car tags (late, as they were). We just replaced a tire. We just had work done on the car. We’d only just paid it off in May of last year...
...and now, it’s sitting in front of our garage with 0 power to it. We can’t pop the trunk, lock the doors, remove the key, put it in park.... It’s very literally dead in the water.
...and we have no car...
...and I have a doctor’s appointment on the 30th that I really need to go to.
I’m wondering if I should bother with a gofundme or something just to get enough for a down payment on a used vehicle. Or even a decent amount for a down payment on a new vehicle we can lease or something. I’m not even sure what to do anymore.
