@alrightevanns​ dude literature for SURE hands down, like that is an unforgivable miss. if they had beedle the motherfucking bard they sure as hell had??? other stories??? wtf???

what EYE want to see ALSO is muggle-born students rolling up to their english lit class and hearing “well-known wizard thomas malory, who wrote le mort d’arthur” and going what. huh. could you imagine a unit on magical literature that’s leaked into the muggle world? or pre statute of secrecy literature/oral traditions that both worlds have in common? holy shit!

and yeah just googled A level subjects on a lark and they can be incredibly specific — i imagine not every british school today offers, say, divinity, but given that the magical curriculum in britain is tailored to just hogwarts, the only magical institution in the country, that’s not really an excuse here. where are, by the way, the more eclectic subjects that homeschooled young magical folk can take their exams in, even if they’re just minor hogwarts classes?

When I was 12, I had this technology teacher that my friends and I all really disliked. There was nothing particularly wrong with him; he was just incredibly boring. One day, he said that every single person needs glasses by the time they are 50. As the only one of my friends with 20/20 vision, and because, again, we just really did not like this guy, I vowed to prove him wrong.

My friends laughed. My mom was unimpressed. My dad, who badly needs glasses and won’t admit it, applauded my dedication to science. My sister refused to wear her glasses for a year in solidarity. I set off on my quest fueled by spite and impenetrable confidence.

Over the past eleven years, I’ve developed (mostly) healthy screentime habits. I’ve never once been Vitamin E deficient. Sunglasses and blue light filters have been my dearest friends. On Tuesday of this week, I spent a three hour meeting wondering why the words on the powerpoint were so unfocused. Maybe it was the font. Possibly the projector bulb was bad. Could it be that I was simply bored? Then, I tried squinting.

Perfect vision is the sun, my eyes are the wings, and I am Icarus on his way to the optometrist. (Happy birthday. I hope your vision continues to serve you well)

as someone who reads all of anne of green gables religiously each fall. i would like to share these quotes from the end of the first book in honor of chapters 48 and 49 of come together specifically causing me pain.

"We are going to be the best of friends," said Gilbert, jubilantly. "We were born to be good friends, Anne. You've thwarted destiny enough. I know we can help each other in many ways. You are going to keep up your studies, aren't you? So am I. Come, I'm going to walk home with you."

(and later when Marilla is all…who did I just see walking you home?????)

i literally almost fully and straight up screamed because of the resonance here with a future CT scene like i swear i have never read these books . i will leave you all with that thought .

that for like FIVE BOOKS we hear NOTHING about molly's brave brothers who had to be taken down by five death eaters at once!!!!! and then the context in which we do hear is this random bs about molly giving harry fabian's watch??

lets ok lets hold on for a second and think about this. ron lost two uncles to the war. RON LOST !!!! TWO UNCLES TO THE WAR!!!! it is so plainly obvious that this context either didn't occur to j/k until she wrote it in or like.... did she think it wouldn't influence ron's character for him to have personally/ ??G?D??G LOST FAMILY?

like. ok like. it's one thing for susan bones to be like yeah my uncle died or w/e in hbp but it is altogether another for harry to somehow never know his best friend — and the wizarding family he most spends time with!!! in fact THE family he most spends time with!!! — lost family in the tragic sequence of events that cost harry his parents??? did she think we wouldn't wonder about that ?? HUH

like yeah ron never knew them so it wouldn't be like an emotional thing but .... are you telling me it's not a fact that ron knew? do the weasley kids not know how their uncles died??? would none of htem have even mentioned this to harry??? like "hey i know it's not the same thing but yknow mum lost her brothers in the war its shit. anyway lets play quidditch in the garden"

also when moody is showing harry the order photo, which unsettles and disturbs harry becuase it's a bunch of dead people, are you telling me that moody — who totally does not pick up on harry's unease — wouldn't have said "oh yeah the prewetts, molly's brothers"??? HUH
