tbh wylan has always given me such cis gay vibes...as you said, his arc revolves around being jan van eck's son. headcanoning a crow as trans is great, but i will raise my eyebrows when it's the same crow everyone mischaracterises as "soft" (also, kaz & jesper have much bigger trans vibes imo)

Yeah, I don't want to throw around any accusations at people who enjoy transing their fave, but I tend to raise my eyebrows a bit as well. Although, I will say, I think the fandom as a whole has moved away a bit from infantilizing Wylan how they used to (with the whole 'Kaz is his dad' thing. Crazy). I agree, I've talked before about the many of the things that make Kaz Relatable in that way (victim vs. monster dichotomy, master of his own fate, building a new self, focus on performance and safety, just the sheer swagger, etc. etc. people have put it better than me tbh), but honestly yeah, Jesper is also Relatable in that way (hiding away, isolation from the communities you're apart of, a parent's shame/worry, the weight of the history of murder and oppression of people just like you, etc etc). Originally these characters are representing different struggles, and I don't want to be disrespectful by co-opting them, but I can see how they're potentially relatable to trans people. I still stand by Kaz being the person who it works the best with in the canon timeline, just like, with the least impact on changing up his backstory, but there are definitely some Jesper moments that hit on some same anxieties and experiences that I have.
