Hey Meg, how are you? I've seen you've been to Japan (Jess talked about it and TT too) and I was just wandering if yiu were here to study or you had a job here or you moved here because of someone else's job... well, I am just curious, I quite new to your blog and really like what you think and do. ((Hi! Yes I did! I lived in Japan from spring ‘16 to spring '17. I was there teaching English in elementary schools, which I had wanted to do for a long time both to try out teaching and also to experience living in a culture I have loved for a very long time! I will actually be going back to Japan VERY soon with my new job! Super excited to be back, I’ve missed it a lot!))

Question Question question! What do you do??? Like what is your job??? Are you in school??? Why were you in Japan???? Can I live in Japan for many months???? Was it hard to learn Japanese??? Why are there four different kinds of kanji???? Halp!!!!

((OOC: Wow. This is next level excitement *pets u* - I am currently blissfully unemployed and spending all my money on food. - I was working a pretty dull job in finance (although the people were super nice) and now am in the middle of applications to go back to university (and jobs applications for when I go home)- I was in Japan because I love Japan and wanted to experience living and working there, instead of just travelling- I was teaching English to elementary school kids- If you have a degree you can also do this fairly easily either as an ALT (what I did) or teaching at an eikaiwa. You don’t absolutely need a TEFL qualification, but if you want to teach at an eikaiwa I would recommend it- I didn’t learn Japanese fluently but it was easier where I was living (Nagoya) because it’s not a tourist city so people there didn’t speak much English - so I got to practice more- The reasons behind written Japanese continue to baffle me ))

American Months of the Year BILINGUAL Japanese/English These American months of the year cards would be great for an American EFL/ALT/TEFL teacher in Japan! It might even be great for a Japanese teacher in an English-speaking country!

This is a worksheet for an activity you can build a lesson around! I used this in Japanese junior high schools but you can use it with more advanced students in elementary school as well. On the top part of the worksheet, students will first interview you about what time you do various things.

Superlatives! This is an activity I would use in the Japanese junior high schools I taught at for my second to last lesson of the school year. I would make it a big cultural lesson about how in America we have school yearbooks in junior

I used this every year as an end of the year activity. It was a great way to teach them about American culture and let them create memories as a class together. Enjoy!

Battleship Game! NO PREP When I taught English in Japanese junior high schools, this was by far their most favorite game! In order to use this lesson, you MUST model it for your students. This is not a game they are familiar with. However, they catch on quickly!

I LOVE this game. I made this to help my students review English while having lots of fun! I included many different pages for different types of lessons as well as blank ones for you to make your own! I hope you enjoy this as much as I do!
