196. “Do you hear them? Do you hear the voices?”

[ϡ] It’s not often that Cloud hears the voice of his Mother. Only rarely, in the quiet moments, or when he doubts himself, longs for the old days when he had a larger family. Only then does Jenova speak to him. Her voice is like the singing of angels and the raging of demons.

But it’s not just her. Not this time. It’s all of his family. His brothers, big and little. Sephiroth. Kadaj. Loz. Yazoo. Even his brothers he never got to meet. Angeal. Genesis.

(Where’s Zack -? )

Others. Other clones. Other pieces. So many voices, calling to him. Can’t you hear them?

He’s dying, but it doesn’t matter. He can’t hear the voices, and he can’t feel the pain; but he can feel the voices, taking him home.

123 “You’re killing her!”

[ϡ] “Yeeees. That’s the point. Don’t you know how swords work?” 

Another day in this twisted version of Hive City, another dead body. Mother was happy, at least. As happy as Mother ever got. She wouldn’t truly be happy until he made her the Promised Land.

But one step at a time. And one dead person at a time, too. 

“Your turn.”

[ϡ] As fun as wrecking people’s lives is, Cloud’s gotta have another break. Some fights are just plain exhausting. Even Sephiroth wasn’t all violence, all the time. Close, sure, but not quite.

So he’s contemplating where to view the carnage from when he spots somebody he’s seen around town. No, not this town; the one in the sky, that used to be the ground. His home, his Hive City.

Such a young one to be around here, isn’t he? But looks are deceiving, and anyways, he’s making a beeline for Cloud.

One hand goes to the Buster Sword on his back, just in case, but for the next few moments, he’s all ears. (Not literally. That would be weird.)

[ϡ] Time to get back into the swing of chaos. She wills it and he wants it, so it shall be. 

There are targets everywhere, but he doesn’t want easy. Easy is boring. Why would you fight an infantryman when you could fight a SOLDIER? Not that there are any SOLDIER here but him.

Unless there’s another him. Now that would be a good fight. Doesn't matter, though.

To a challenge, then. Can’t be too hard to find. There - that looks like a walking suit of armor. He could probably crush it, but maybe it’ll put up a fight. he hopes so.

“You live in this City, right?” Can the armor even hear him? Oh well. He points the Buster Sword at it. if it can’t hear, it must be able to see.

“Mother wants me to kill you.”

Hunting Grounds

[ϡ] Imagine a playground, with everyone you know, except you can kill them, and nobody cares. 

 What a perfect present.

 Up, then. It’s up, and that’s where Cloud will be. Up this building, up past dozens of windows. On the roof, and still higher. Black wing, like leather, not feathers. A new wing for a new Son. 

Up, up to the sky. Ascending like an angel. Until that strange point between here and there, where everything changes. 

 Not flying down, but falling up. It’s a flip, head over heels in joy, and he keeps flipping. Why not? It’s fun, and he’s laughing. 

Laughing, falling, flipping, landing on a car. It breaks beneath his weight, crushed metal and shattered glass. There’s no more laughing, only the sword in his hand and a target. That one looks like fun.

Time to hunt, Mother.

Time to kill.
