As for your other question, unfortunately, there is no fic 😔 their au was posted in a series of tweets and art comics that have since been deleted once they left the fandom. I explain more in my previous ask here, but since there is no fic/documentation I might as well give a run down of what the story was (fair warning that my memory might be slightly dated or inaccurate due to the changing nature of the story—anyone feel free to throw in what they remember)
The setting takes place in modern times where all of Dream Team and their friends are still content creators. The cortex outbreak hits after the face reveal and George has moved to Florida. Dream and George end up stranded together while Sapnap is stuck in North Carolina on a trip to visit Karl.
In all the chaos of the apocalypse, George and Karl become infected. George becomes a variant 4, the Flower (known for the tendrils in their mouth that they use to spread the infection and its ability to use personal attachment to manipulate potential victims). Karl becomes a variant 7, the mimic (known for the way the virus adapts to its hosts and learns how to act “human”. They can also talk to draw in prey)
Both zombies “attach” to their victims (Dream & Sapnap) as the cortex inside them deems keeping them alive better for their survival. Mushie’s AU follows mostly dnf as George’s cortex adapts to George’s brain, allowing it to use George’s memories and occasionally his voice (tho minimally). Dream believes George is still alive somehow and takes care of him—feeding him people, and keeping him safe from said people. Every once in a while, George will try to speak or hum some of Dream’s songs. Eventually, Dream slowly becomes infected himself. It’s not instant, as the cortex within him adapts differently into a new variation that leaves him more aware but still craving zombie tendencies.
As Dream grows worse, he attempts to find a cure, traveling to reach labs across the country. Eventually, he finds a place that was able to make a single antidote. There’s no certainty it will work but he gives it to George. Eventually, miraculously, it works. During the zombification, George was still conscious but his mind and body were controlled by the cortex inside his brain. Once the cortex died, it released control of his body. He doesn’t recover immediately after being not in control of his body for such a long time, but enough that he knows that the lab needs to make another cure for Dream or risk reversing their positions.

That is where my memory ends. There are plenty of one off scenarios that they drew, some of which they probably didn’t canonize but this is how the story goes in my brain.
I hope this helps fill some of yalls curiosity. My version is different from this as I’m sure you figured, but I drew heavily from theirs.
