Guy I fucking freaked out like to a sheer unimaginable level after seeing a notif for a chapter update of my absolute favourite voltron fanfic ever. IT UPDATED. IT'S BEEN YEARS. It's almost done too. The author really wants to upload the last couple of chapters. I fucking screeched. My mom is probably wondering why lol.

Summary: "Are you a ghost?" Lance asked.

"Am I a … ? No, I'm not a ghost."

"Oh." Lance’s shoulders sagged. "Sorry. The mullet threw me off. I thought maybe you died in the seventies or something."

When Shiro and Matt disappear without a trace, Keith seeks out the help of Matt's sister, Pidge—who, like him, suspects that something paranormal is afoot. A trail of clues leads them to a ghost town called Altea, where they meet ghost hunters Hunk and Lance. The group soon discovers they are paladins—they have the ability to walk between the physical and spirit worlds. An evil spirit named Zarkon is planning to invade the human world... and the only way to stop him, and to save Shiro and Matt in time, is to form an immensely powerful being called Voltron. But in order to do that, they'll need to find all five ghost lions—each located in one of the most haunted locations in the world.

fic summary:

When Shiro and Matt disappear without a trace, conspiracy theorists Keith and Pidge team up with ghost hunters Lance and Hunk to find them. They soon discover they are paladins, which means they have the ability to walk between the physical and spirit worlds. Now it’s up to them to stop Zarkon, an evil spirit who plans to invade the human world. … And the only way to do that is to find the five spirit lions that combine into an immensely powerful being called Voltron.

chapter summary: the gang goes searching for the yellow lion in an abandoned mine, and face some powerful and dangerous foes.

excerpt:

Hunk grinned, but his smile immediately dropped when he saw the look on Keith’s face. “Wait a second. Where’s Lance? And are Pidge and Allura with you guys? Also, why are your clothes all wet?”

“Long story,” Keith panted out. “And everyone’s here, but they’re in trouble. They need you.”

Hunk just stared at him. “Need … me?” He pointed to himself questioningly, like he thought Keith must be referring to someone else.

“Yes, you. A bunch of druids attacked,” Keith explained in a rush. “And we need to get you to the Yellow Lion right now.”

“But why––” Hunk started to say, and then he froze. “You mean … ?”

“Yeah,” Keith said. And as scared as he was, he managed to give Hunk a small smile. “You’re the Yellow Paladin, Hunk.”

Nightmare

a bit more from the next altea rising chapter 👀

“What? No.” Keith grabbed Lance’s jacket sleeve as he tried to run for the steps. “Listen, you don’t know what Haggar is capable of. She’ll––”

The words caught in his throat. He couldn’t even voice his worst fears of what Haggar might do. He remembered his first nightmare about her, the total lack of emotion on her face as she’d tortured Matt even as he twisted and screamed in agony. The thought of her hurting Lance that way, or worse …

“I have to,” Lance insisted, voice firmer this time.

He looked away and Keith followed his gaze, to where Blue was roaring at the foot of the steps. She lunged towards Haggar, who vanished into thin air with a cackle and reappeared behind Blue a moment later and shot forth another bolt of violet lightning. Blue managed to turn around and dodge the attack at the last second, her tail lashing as she growled in fury.

“I’ll be okay,” Lance said, grabbing Keith’s attention again. Keith looked back at him to find Lance looking him right in the eye. “Focus on bonding with Red.”

Before Keith could protest, Lance let go of his shoulders and turned to leap down the steps, hands already ablaze with blue light.
