The Forgers go on a family camping trip, and Yor is doing her best to act the part of a responsible mother. But when Anya goes missing and a bear appears in the woods, Yor will do whatever it takes to get her daughter back. (Written for @spyxvacation zine!)

excerpt:
She stops to catch her breath. The sun is sinking, its last golden rays slicing between the trees. A fresh wave of fear washes over Yor as she imagines poor little Anya, lost and alone in the dark. Or worse…
Wait. There, on the ground. A light-colored object lies amidst the roots. Anya’s hat! Yor snatches it up and clutches it.
There’s a dull thud behind her. A twig snaps.
“Miss Any—” Even before she turns all the way, Yor’s voice catches in her throat. That footstep sounded too heavy to be Anya. Too heavy to be human.
A hulking form stands a few paces away. A pair of beady black eyes glare at her. The creature’s shaggy brown fur ruffles in the breeze, and its sides heave with furious breaths.
A bear!
Yor drops Anya’s hat. “You…” Burning-hot, explosive rage consumes her. Her fingers tremble and the edges of her vision go blurry. “What have you done with Anya?”
i was tagged by @zenstrike - ty zen!! 💖 technically i guess a late wip wednesday, and also zen tagged me last week too and i forgot to post anything lol so here is a wip at last! i’m bad at tagging people but if you want to want to participate then go ahead 👍
anyway here’s a bit from sylvix pacific rim au... for context, this is before sylvain and felix pair up, and felix and ingrid try to drift together and it goes... Very Badly LOL. anyway cw for some implied death/violence (not described in detail or anything).
The sky flickered—a stutter like a lightbulb about to burn out. The water shifted and blurred. The placid water darkened and churned into a raging sea, and—
“Glenn!”
His own voice this time, but deeper. Older. Raw in this throat. Wracked with pain.
Pain, everywhere. Unimaginable agony ripping through his veins and seizing his limbs as his brother’s presence—his very soul—was torn away.
Aegis’s haul was ripped wide open and rain slashed down. Outside, the kaiju roared—a horrific blur of yellow eyes and razor sharp teeth and claws and—
Glenn… he was in the monster’s clutches, far out of Felix’s reach. All Felix could do was scream until his chest ached with it, a raw cry of fury and agony as the connection to his brother snapped, as the unbearable weight of drifting alone slammed down on him—
A new surge of pain sang through his skull, but it was different this time. More like a sudden jolt. Like a strong magnet repelling him.
Other sounds broke through, splintering the memory apart: A frantic, incessant beeping from inside his helmet. A voice—Claude’s, he was pretty sure—saying something in a rush, something Felix couldn’t quite make out except “... out of alignment.”
The scenery came back into focus in painful, colorful bursts. He was back in Aegis’s hull, his holographic controls flashing red in front of him. The back of his skull throbbed like he’d received a powerful blow to the head. Nearby, someone was gasping loudly for breath. Ingrid.
Felix’s whole body was numb, but he managed to wrench himself free from his controls—like he could physically rip himself away from the remnants of memory. He’d almost forgotten how real it all felt—and also how horrible a failed drift felt, like the contents of his head had been slashed to bits and rearranged in the wrong order.
He fought to suck air into his lungs. A cold bead of sweat trickled down his temple. Even if he’d escaped from it for now, the horrific memory of Glenn’s death still gripped him in his clutches.
Then the guilt knocked into him, like a punch straight to the sternum.
He turned to Ingrid, his head swimming as he struggled to think what to say. He was sorry, he’d fallen too deep into the memory, he’d thrown them both out of alignment...
The words died on his tongue when he saw the look on Ingrid’s face. Her skin had gone white as a sheet. Her eyes were hazy and unfocused at first—then the horror set in. Almost like she was scared of Felix himself.

CHAPTER 15 / (5.9k)
The group makes plans to find the Black Lion, and Keith learns a shocking truth about his identity.
Two years after the war, Team Voltron reunites on the night of Allura's coronation as queen of New Altea. But when an unexpected attack occurs, Keith and Lance are tasked with dismantling a bomb planted in the basement of the castle––and are left to face some unresolved tension in the process.
(originally written for @kl-beginning-zine)
Keith is not a fan of parties.
He’s at least managed to sneak off into a shadowy alcove for now, leaning against one of the tall pillars that line the ballroom. But the excess of light, noise, and social interaction is starting to make his head feel fuzzy.
The milling throng blurs into a sea of color and noise. Aliens have gathered from far across the universe to attend Allura’s coronation as queen of New Altea. The actual ceremony will take place later this evening, but the festivities will last for several days. Apparently Alteans don’t mess around when it comes to celebrations.
Keith fiddles with the end of his tie. Although Shiro tried to show him how to tie it properly, it was a lost cause. It only makes Keith feel like he’s being strangled, and he keeps loosening it even though he knows it probably looks sloppy.
His gaze roams over the crowd in search of familiar faces. He arrived here with Shiro and Adam earlier, he held a brief friendly conversation with Hunk and Shay, and he received an enthusiastic tackle-hug from Pidge. He’s caught a few glimpses of Allura; of course, she’s been so busy conversing with all the attendees that Keith hasn’t even spoken to her yet.
But there’s one member of Team Voltron that Keith hasn’t seen yet––and the turmoil of anticipation and anxiety has his heart already climbing into his throat.

He closes his eyes.
Blue's response is instantaneous. Lance almost falls over at the sudden connection of their minds, but he manages to catch himself against the dashboard. Even though he remains distantly aware of the cool surface under his hand and the sturdy floor beneath his feet, he feels like he's floating, like he's taken an unexpected plunge into deep water.
He remembers learning to swim for the first time, chest aching and small limbs flailing. And then his mother's steady hands, her soothing voice. "It’s alright. I've got you, I've got you."
He feels Blue's presence there, holding him up. As their minds fuse, she explores the labyrinth of his memories. But she never goes where she isn't wanted, only following where Lance leads her.
When Shiro and Matt disappear without a trace, conspiracy theorists Keith and Pidge team up with ghost hunters Lance and Hunk to find them. They soon discover they are paladins, which means they have the ability to walk between the physical and spirit worlds. Now it’s up to them to stop Zarkon, an evil spirit who plans to invade the human world. … And the only way to do that is to find the five spirit lions that combine into an immensely powerful being called Voltron.
chapter summary: the gang goes searching for the yellow lion in an abandoned mine, and face some powerful and dangerous foes.
excerpt:
Hunk grinned, but his smile immediately dropped when he saw the look on Keith’s face. “Wait a second. Where’s Lance? And are Pidge and Allura with you guys? Also, why are your clothes all wet?”
“Long story,” Keith panted out. “And everyone’s here, but they’re in trouble. They need you.”
Hunk just stared at him. “Need … me?” He pointed to himself questioningly, like he thought Keith must be referring to someone else.
“Yes, you. A bunch of druids attacked,” Keith explained in a rush. “And we need to get you to the Yellow Lion right now.”
“But why––” Hunk started to say, and then he froze. “You mean … ?”
“Yeah,” Keith said. And as scared as he was, he managed to give Hunk a small smile. “You’re the Yellow Paladin, Hunk.”
