All I Have to Say

Prompt: Truth. My character will say what they think of yours in all honesty. 

Prompt: Hello. I will write about our characters' first ever meeting.

I met the prince some years ago, when first Cain and I became knights.  It was a childhood dream of ours.  We grew up together, and our first meeting was a matter of some hilarity.  There was a public event.. a joust, if I remember correctly.  I was there with my father to watch.  Of course, I don't remember much of what exactly happened there.  I was young, and Cain, even younger.  When I first laid my eyes on that dear fool, he was picking fights with some of the participants, boasting about being the best knight in all of Altea.  

It looked fun, really, so I decided to back him up.  I was more reckless when I was younger, you see.  I didn't have as much at stake, and I didn't have much to care about.  Of course, "reckless" in any sense applied to me is still far more mellow than I ought to be.  What can I say?  My head just stands above my heart.

I'm... getting off topic.  Forgive me.  

Somehow, it must have been destiny that day, for the two of us to have met.  We became fast friends, and we trained together from that young age, one of us unquestionably with more energy and spirit.  I shall spare you the painful details of our training.  I will also only say that our knighting ceremony was, as to be expected, slightly... disastrous.  

However, we were somehow still assigned shortly after to be part of the Prince's personal guard.  On meeting him, the first things one might notice are his slightly smaller build; his kind, compassionate eyes; his friendly smile.  If one gets to know him, he's so much stronger than the rest of us.  He pushes himself to limits even we, his closest friends are always surprised he knows. 

So.. if you want my opinion on him, I believe the Prince of Altea is every bit qualified to be a martyr, and every bit deserving of Heaven's highest seat.  He is as close to perfection as humankind can reach, and yet.. he's just as human as the rest of us.  To end my gushing, I suppose I ought to just say he is the best friend of all of Altea.
