Finally tried out this gritty reboot thing of Altered Beast on the PS2! Game plays mostly like other PS2 hack n slash games, with its own twists, though the exploration and map stuff kinda evokes a survival horror flavor. Oddly absent is a Hits combo counter which would have been right at home here. The graphics are PS2 standard to me, dunno why reviewers said it had poor ones. I played up to the first save file, so far so good overall. Its not quite what I expected for a reboot, but still falls within familiar territory that I want to continue it later on
