Standing outside of Grey-Sloan Memorial, Rosalie sighed; she didn’t think she’d ever return to Seattle, but in some weird twisted way, she felt like she had to. It was where her essentially father had done his residency, her for all intents and purposes mom too. So, when her residency program dropped to the bottom of the barrel, Rosalie decided to jump ship to a new one. She walked into the hospital and up to the new chief of surgery’s office, finding both Bailey and Webber there.
Rosalie received the run down from Bailey for starting as a second year resident, she’d be lucky to not have her own interns this year- Rosalie was grateful to dodge that bullet. “Alright, someone from admin will find you at some point today to finish paperwork. Go get some scrubs on and find Grey.” Rosalie frowned when she heard her instructions to go find Meredith Grey and bit her lip. Dr. Bailey raised an eyebrow at her, “Alright, look I know that you two have some weird twisted history, but you’ve chosen General Surgery, she’s the attending. Now, go.”
She remembered Dr. Bailey very well and glanced at her pseudo-grandfather, realizing that she wasn’t going to be getting any help from him. “Fine.” Rosalie said quietly. Before she got out the door, she heard, “Nice to see you again, Rosie.” It didn’t take long for Rosalie to get her new scrubs, put her things in a locker, and start working her way to finding Meredith. She wasn’t sure how she would be received, would she be the step-kid she never wanted and didn’t acknowledge, or the daughter her boyfriend didn’t tell her existed. Rosalie was nervous, she didn’t exactly look like the teenager that she’d been back then, but her name alone would probably trigger memories.
Waiting by the nurses station, Rosalie listened to the gossip and tried to look for Meredith. She hoped that most people that had known her when she was younger would have moved on and been gone. Soon enough, Rosalie spotted Meredith and was very tempted to pretend she hadn’t but she was here to learn, so she was going to have to approach her. She waited for a lull in conversation when there wasn’t a patient in distress and walked up to her. “Dr. Grey, I’m your new resident.”
