Title: Doubly Linked

Something from a roleplay of mine that I really really love how it came out.

So basically the tenth doctor had ended up adopting asriel, and then he found out that chara was down in the Ruins, and could be awoken by someone’s determination if it was strong enough. And his determination is pretty strong, especially considering determination might have something to do with regeneration (I mean the master was able to willingly stop it so it can’t JUST be from biological functioning, there must be some willful component in there too), so he went down to get them for their own sake and asriel’s.

So because he and chara’s determination kind of resonated with each other, there was this kind of soul link that formed between them that allowed the doctor to hear them and feel where they were, even if he couldn’t see them cuz ghost. Skip to much later, and ten regenerates to eleven. His biology notices that there’s a separate consciousness connected to him and is like oh, two consciousness? Two bodies! So that regeneration gave chara a body, effectively making them a timelord (it also morphed their soul a bit, so it’s a double heart, which matches the biological double heart). And because it’s the same regeneration, two bodies from the same body, he and chara share this psychic link, so now they’re linked both through the soul and the mind.

The circular gallifreyan that is made up of the timelord link says “love,” because both the doctor (who pretty much killed off his entire species) and chara (who had been belittled and abused their whole life before the underground) have problems with feeling like they deserve to be loved and it’s just … I dunno, all of this just gives me a good feeling, like they both have so much pain but they’re healing from it together, and that’s just heightened by how well it turned out aesthetically.

… So this wasn’t really what I was planning to do for today’s prompt, evidenced by the lack of theme title and the fact that it’s not in my sketchbook, but I really like how it came out, and it kind of fits the theme? So yeah!

There’s a story behind this. Long story short, tho, my Gaster is from a Muscogee Creek village that got burned down during the war after he was captured and thrown underground. This is him finally returning to that spot centuries later after the barrier was broken (and after he got out of the void, obviously).

Okay so how many aus do we have branching off from that base thread?

Obviously there's the one they all came from, which is just a normal doctor who/undertale crossover, separate universes, the doctor managed to get gaster out of the void and they built a portal to visit each other and explore other universes (hopefully they'll be able to explore the hollow knight one soon hehehehehe). Pre-events of undertale, the doctor adopts flowey/asriel and chara, finds jenny, marries jack, and gaster visits so often that he's pretty much a part of the family too.

Then there's the one extremely similar to that one but chekilli also died during the war and they're slightly behind the main one so the versions of gaster and the doctor in the main one can warn the versions of themselves in this alternate one about possible things beforehand, and they've started to become less similar because of this.

Then there's the one I've just been talking about, the companion one, where what if the universes were one and the same so timelords have magic and the doctor rescues wingdings from the war before he's thrown into the barrier. Normally I headcanon gaster as aroace but he's not in this one and gets a crush on an alien girl that they meet in their travels. Arrow comes from elsewhere.

Then, branching off of that, if timelords have magic then what if they also have monsters, and if so what if wingdings was a gallifreyan monster? Turns out most timelords are not good at taking care of monsters cuz they believe them to just be spells and tools, but the doctor sees them as the people they are and becomes close friends with wingdings from an early age.

Then, branching off of that, another one where what if wingdings wasn't aroace, but this time he falls for the doctor and also the master isn't a horrible jerk and goes by the rebel instead. Got another fanchild oc here named Circ, short for Circular Gallifreyan.

And then we've got like nine smaller side aus.
