Persona (poem)
Do we hide behind it like a foggy bathroom mirror? Do we lose ourselves in the steam? The truth we can't hear her Take your thumb and maybe your index finger.... Take them and skim the surface, skim only the surface. Wipe away the layers. Wipe away the person. Do we present this stranger to people because we are comfortable? Or do we hide away the reality because we're unconfrontable? Are you still humble? Well? Can we continue to hide behind something dishonest? Dishonest because the you you are is not the you you are I promise. If God created our souls to be hidden then our eyelids would be curtains and our voices would be forbidden Our rib cage would be a rib prison and our skin would be a system integrated so that we can remain hidden... Remain hidden Refrain vision Seeking approval Humanity's removal Turn the fan on and grab a towel Wipe away the thing so foul As the steam clears and a reflection appears See the portait See yourself here Shed the layers Shed your persona Shed yourself Let it dissapear
