Is the disgusting south really a tumblr aesthetic?
my life is absolutely all about the disgusting south
I miss the days checking on altruistech posts. I remember this one time he posted how this college degree graduate was mad that someone with just certificates (altruistech highly knowledgeable) didn't like how he had most of the control at his it job.

This doesn't do you justice. you can make hardware from scratch and that's barely a workstation, more like place where work can occur.
tough but true

You are way too skilled for that soldering setup. Do you ever consider something like a hakko? Best $100 I have ever spent.
Those photographs & post are originally from 2015.
My soldering equipment has improved significantly since then, with a proper PCB stand, fume extractor, and a Weller WESD-51. That being said, you’d be surprised what my old 30 watt pencil iron could achieve.

So if not to be coupled with a modem, why would they make or brand a phone? I need to know more about this now! :)
It’s definitely a Northern Telecom phone branded with Commodore. While they made may things over the decades, Commodore never made phones... that I’m aware of.
My guess is it’s to plug into the port marked “phone” on a Modem 300
Because it would look damned good.

People that are confused might need to google “acoustic coupler”
Fun fact: this phone appears to have been made in 1983, and by then modems were being made that removed the need for an acoustic coupler. By my guess, this was made as more of a promotional item than anything else.
However, I would love to get the acoustic coupler modem that went with the PET series.
Yes I do, it was stripped down to just the basics; the gui, the drivers, the programs. It was built to be the fastest copy of XP, not the most robust. There's never been a torrent of it that I've seen so I was curious if it made its way to your realm via physical media. I have a copy of it if you'd like, I'm pretty sure XP is sitting atop the fence of abandonware and just needs a little push.
Nice. I would love to get my hands on this XP variant to see what it can do.
