The darkness had enveloped her for… she wasn’t sure how long at this point. It had to have been a day… or even two. Yeah, maybe two… her stomach had been growling at her for a long time now, her throat parched as she laid against the cold cement. Her arm was the most comfort she could get, using it as a makeshift pillow.
The silence had begun to grate on her, something she once adored now turned against her. She was an introvert by nature but even then one still needed human contact, especially when you were in the pitch black for god knows how long. Nothing to do, nothing to listen to nor watch. She was left to her own thoughts and nothing but her own thoughts.
Sounds nearby caught her attention, followed by being blinded by light as the door opened. She threw her hands to her eyes, unable to handle it. She could feel tears of relief along with fear attempting to spill, as if her eyes weren’t reddened enough from her previous crying.
She didn’t make any attempt to speak to the man, nor any sounds at all. She lowered her hands slightly, keeping her eyes closed as she slowly adjusted to the light, unaware of what he might be doing.
With a particular experiment in mind, Carter had been keeping careful track of the amount of time the survivor had been trapped inside the small room. He had chosen the botanist mostly because of her small stature making her easy to abduct and she seemed as tho she would be quieter than some of the other survivors. He had been right for the most part, apart from the sounds of quiet sobbing.
Now that he was finally tired of waiting around after what had been founteen hours of watching her on the cctv monitor in his office, it was time. He gave the screen one final glance before setting off down the hall towards the room. He wasn't exactly careful about suddenly reintroducing her to the bright lights of the institute either.
"Miss Morel! I trust your stay has been as pleasant as possible... Given your situation," he couldn’t help but giggle a little, knowing he had 'forgotten' to give her proper bedding. Oops!
He moved into the room carefully, closing the door behind him. Now the room was mostly dark again except from the light glow of his eyes and a very dim light from the bulb above them that was powered by his very presence. He hummed a little to himself, trusting that she would either be too confused, intimidated or disoriented to bolt as he flipped through the pages of his clip board.
"Now, would you like to answer some questions?" He asked, not waiting for a response before continuing with his first question. "How long do you think you were in this room?"
