I'm back from California! I had a blast in Disneyland, San Francisco and at the Kcon concert. I'll post some pics soon...when I'm not so tired.
OTAKON!
I'll be in the artist alley at Otakon this Friday thru Sunday. I'll have prints, charms, buttons and some older stuff for sale along with the Octopus + Bunny comics and merch! So, stop by table S12 and say "Hi"
I didn't get to go out for International Lolita Day AGAIN!
I have to stay home and work on products for artist alley at AnimeNEXT next weekend. I wanted to at least dress up and get a quick pic before I go back to work...
Two prints that I'll be wearing this Fri and Sat at Anime Boston.
Angelic Pretty Dreaming of Macarons Skirt + Toy Parade JSK
Here is another of my favorite cosplay teams! This one is a set of three. ;) (Autumn now you're just cheating. :P)
Featured Cosplayers: Aluminum Bunny, Shiroi Yukiko, and Eri
I first met Aluminum Bunny (Joanna) and Shiroi Yukiko (Lynette) in the artist's alley of Anime Boston 2011. These are two incredibly busy ladies when it comes to artsy things-- Joanna does wonderful (and often super adorable) drawings while Lynette works in the realm of making plushies and applique bags. When it comes to cosplay though, these two probably do some of the best, solid work I've seen. Both do incredible work when it comes to tailoring and details. Shooting with them a year later at Anime Boston 2012 was a laugh an a half because they weren't afraid to try things and take direction, even when I asked them to do things like "throw your arms in the air and jump!" Earlier this year I got to shoot with Lynette again, this time trudging around in a foot of fresh snow, her in the heals of her Vampire Hunter D costume. Her trust in me as a photographer still gives me warm fuzzies.
What can I say about Eri? Eri is usually a photographer, but watching her grow as a cosplayer since we met has been awesome. I've watched her learn to sew, and watched her bring creative ideas for special costume touches to life, like her actual glowing Rin flames. Did I mention she's made stunning armor out of post office boxes? Eri is one of the best make-up artists I know. She's always done my Agnes Joubert make-up, and I know I can trust her to make it beautiful every time. I also always run to her when I need a wig trimmed. I would actually trust her to cut my real hair, but she's pretty busy these days so we don't see each other much. ;-; As a photographer, Eri takes fantastic shots and does beautiful retouching to make sure her subjects look their best. She has taught me a lot about the craft and is always willing to give me advice, and for that I am ever grateful. I hope she'll take pictures for me again someday soon.
