Do you think the donuts in 4b were meant to underscore Regina's flattery/manipulation of Henry? That moment really stands out in my mind as odd parenting: "I made suuuure to get you chocolate just like you aaaasked for..." Strange tone of voice.
It sort of underscored for me how distant they are from one another. Since S1, we’ve never gotten much by way of Regina and Henry living together -- no cute little domestic moments (I mean, she tucked him into bed that one time, but that was Pan...), no shared rituals. She was his only parent for ten years, but she’s left trying to play catch-up in terms of how normal people live and relate.

I'm sure I don't have nearly so many good citizen-related headcanons, but that is one of my favorite things about that one cursedKillian/priestKillian story you rec'ed once: that because Killian is the town priest, he actually meets ordinary people and hears what their lives have been like and counsels them.
Oh yeah! That is Peace I Leave With You by mediumsizedfountain and it’s gorgeous! Fair warning guys it’s a WIP but so wonderful I don’t even care that it’s not finished! I was thinking about it just the other day and just the wonderful character analysis and the new look at Storybrooke it provides. It’s the kind of story that just sticks with you!
