We have come to the end of the month long project that is #OCPride! Day 30 brings us… ME! Or, at least the most modern version of the cartoon avatar of me that I’ve used for many of the semi-autobiographical voice made over the last few decades. Octavius, or “Ozzie” as he’s currently known has been the main guy of my comics Shrimp Fried Riot, My Own Personal Apocalypse, Octopus Ink and about a half dozen others. He is my mouthpiece when I am nerd raging, my butt monkey when I am wracked with self loathing and doubt and the recipient of cartoon blessings when I’m actually having a good day. Octopus Ink ended abruptly when I drew some feelings that got a bit too real, but Ozzie will return. Possibly someday soon. Until then, the chibi-ish cartoon version of Your Humble Cartoonist hopes that #pride2022 has been good to you all! She has, thus far been seen in the back ground of my #IWATSV comic ( where Riot Rabbit -day 6 - and Moshpit - day 18 - are from). She was at the scene of a big fight between Team Hades and Chicago’s metahuman street gang, Pain Tribe. Second generation product of covert military genetic experiments, Moonrock has the ability to transform into a being of super strong living “concrete”. Her power only fully works at night, or in near complete darkness. #OCPride Day 24! ON the 24th, even! Noah Abernathy is actually one of my more background characters. He is a younger brother of Warren Abernathy-who is basically my recurring “Average White Guy” character that’s been in several of my projects over the last 2decades and change. Warren is the Middle child of 5 brothers, and all 4of his brothers are gay. Noah is Number 4. Due to his big, burly Bear-ness, most folks don’t believe that he’s Warren’s Younger brother. Since trying to flesh out the Abernathy Brothers, Noah is the one I’ve put the most effort into. Nowadays, he pops up more in my half-baked comic ideas than Warren does! A bartender by trade, Noah loves playing Cupid for his patrons and he’s pretty good at matchmaking. Unfortunately, he gets too tongue-tied to even speak to Joe Marx, a local firefighter that he has a crush on.
