AHHHHHHHHH #4
4. “I have never not loved you.”
Bradley startled awake and hissed through his teeth. His ribs were still very much bruised, and sudden movement did not help that fact. He blinked slowly as his surroundings came into focus, it was pitch black in his room and he could hear rain outside. Banging on his door slightly startled him again. He slowly got out of bed and threw on a pair of jogging shorts and made his way to the door. Whoever was outside his door banged again. When he looked through the peephole he cursed and opened the door.
Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin was standing on his porch, damp, and with a slightly wild look in his eye. “What are you doing here,” Bradley asked, trying not to let the irritation he was feeling slip into his voice. Jake just stared at him for a second, his eyes still slightly wild. “You know I love you right,” Jake asked, a begging note in his voice. Bradley’s eyes widened, of all the things he expected, those words were not on the list.
“Jake…” Bradley trailed off, because dammit, he was never going to be Hangman again, not after Jake saved his life. “Please, please, Bradley,” Jake begged, his voice cracking when he said Bradley’s name. Bradley just sighed and opened the door, turning around to the living room, knowing Jake wasn't far behind him. Jake shut the door behind him and they both sat down on the couch, close enough to touch. Bradley sighed again. “Jake, what are you doing here,” Bradley repeated.
“You died Bradely,” before Bradley could protest that fact, Jake held up his shaky hand up and continued, “everyone thought you were dead for two hours. I thought you were dead for two hours.” Bradley winced. “I thought you were dead for two hours,” Jake repeated, near tears. “And the only thing I could think was ‘I hope he knows how much I love him.’” Bradley made a wounded noise. “You left Jake, not me. You were the one that quit,” Bradley said harshly. Jake made a sound that suspiciously sounded like a sob. “I know, and I lived with that for four years Bradley, but you have to know that I have never not loved you,” Jake whispered. Bradley sucked in a harsh breath at the confession and shook his head. “Go to sleep Jake, it’s late, we can talk about this in the morning,” Bradley said, not making eye contact. He stood up and turned around, reaching for a blanket to give to the other man. “Bradley, look at me, please,” Jake begged, sounding almost hysterical. Bradley squeezed his eyes shut tight before turning around and looking at the younger man.
Bradley’s heart broke. One look at Jake’s watery green eyes and he knew, he knew, that Jake meant every word he said. Bradley could see his fear, his vulnerability, his hope, all of Jake’s emotions swimming in his beautiful green eyes. Bradley gently took Jake’s jaw in his hand. “You left,” he whispered. Jake closed his eyes and leaned into Bradley’s touch. “I was scared, so fuckng scared, of needing someone the way I felt like I needed you,” Jake whispered back. Jake opened his eyes and Bradley was slightly startled by the intensity he saw. “But losing you was so, so much worse.” A strangled noise fell from Bradley's lips and he sat back down on the couch and immediately captured Jake’s lips with his own. “Bradley we-” Bradley cut him off. “I love you too, so, so fucking much. I never stopped. Even when I should have, even after you broke my heart, I never stopped loving you Jake Seresin.” Bradley felt tears running down his cheeks, and he wasn’t entirely sure who they belonged to. Jake cupped Bradley’s jaw in his hands, wiping away their tears. “I love you Bradley, and I am never leaving you again if I can help it,” Jake said firmly. Bradley hummed his agreement and kissed him again before laying down on the couch and pulling Jake down on top of him, bruised ribs be damned.
They sat there in silence for a while before Jake started grumbling about ‘a shity couch and a perfectly good bed,’ so Bradely lightly pushed Jake off of him and took Jake’s hand and led him to the bedroom, where they both quickly fell asleep, tangled around each other.
A/N: Yeah, I took that and ran. Not even sorry. I hope you like it Em! @jakeseresins
