thank you so much!!! and i have never written anything for jordelia before, but this was actually really fun.
we all know that james and cordelia both enjoy a good game of chess
there would be a competition in their house, where they tally the wins for the month
loser has to fully fund a day out, catered to the winner
chess games that should have only taken twenty minutes turn into hours long, because every move is criticised and double checked
let’s just say, their friends and family knew it was not a good time to visit when the chess board was out
despite this, they actually do enjoy their dates out
the day is filled with jabs at each other about who really won and who cheated, but it’s all in good fun
cordelia still enjoys the days where she takes james to libraries, art exhibits and quiet picnics in the park
and james still gets entertained by cordelia dragging him by the hand to different market stalls, pointing out to the acts she liked at the circus for james to see, and listening to her thoughts about the show they attended at the theatre
and the moment they get back from their monthly date, the chess board is taken out again and the whole showdown begins once more
is it a stupid excuse to determine what they would do for date night? perhaps. but that’s james and daisy. they get to spend time together, having fun nitpicking each other’s chess strategies and bad sportsmanship.
and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
